SATURDAY 22nd/ JUNE 2013
We had a 'Helluva' evening which started when we went to 'Casares Golf Club'for a nice bottle of ' Cava Rose ' to start the night off; the pictures above show " Elvis Presley" singing " Happy Birthday " to the birthday Girl !
We then came back down to the coast and shot along to 'Restaurante San Rafael' just past Sabinillas where Mano and Sally Ann ( Anna had a bad back ) met us to wish Brenda 'Happy Birthday - Sally Ann had made Brenda's birthday cake,as a present and had brought it down to the restaurant on a Silver cakestand,we have known her since she was a very young girl and she calls us 'Aunty and Uncle ! ' The cake was a special 'Death by Chocolate' Gateaux with three tiers with a rich Chocolate Mousse in the center - spectacular - thanks and love Sally Ann !!
The Restaurant looked after us very well,as usual as we nibbled at the house Cheese Croquettes and Seafood salad with the special House Bread that is baked to order and when it comes to the table you pour Garlic Virgin Olive Oil into the vent holes!
Brenda and I had the 'Chateaubriand with Bearnaise sauce',Jack and Lyn choose the' Leg of Baby Lamb',Norah had sliced 'Venison' in its own juices and Jenny had a very nice 'Fillet steak au Poivre'- they all have mixed vegetables and on the table you help yourself to the house 'Boulangere Poatatoes' The wine I choose was the " Marques de Murrieta Reserva 2005' Rioja " It was rather special and everybody enjoyed it! As we started our meal a 'Andalucian Ballard' singer gave his all as we all joined in with all the old favourites! See the pictures above.
One ' Helluva' night to end the birthday girls celebrations; today we have another full day planned starting with a visit down to the Sunday Market,then back up to Bar Rojas for a special 'Paella' and then this evening 'Haddock and Chips' in paper at our house before we go down to the beach at Sabinillas for " Noche San Juan " !!
