MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY 12th/ 13th MAY 2012.

The weather forecast for over the weekend and into next week is sun and getting hotter; inland in central Spain at this time of the year it even gets hotter but we still have a little breeze up here on the side of the hills which makes it very pleasant. We did the usual shopping down in Sabinillas and after unpacking we went for our walk; in the afternoon Brenda was up on the roof terrace in her Monokini this time as she builds up her colour! We are back to reading again so we exchange the books from the English Bookshop; I caught up on the IPlayer with some BBC programmes and then started a book. In the evening we had for supper Salmon Tails Pan Fried in foaming Lemon Butter with New potatoes and Garden Peas before we watched the Friday film; it was an action/adventure story about the United States Coast Guard called “ The Guardian ” and starred Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher as the old and young swimmer/divers vying to be the best ! Surprise ending to watch out for.

On Saturday morning for a change we had Smoked Bacon Butties for breakfast; I then shot down to the football ground to watch Jake in the match that was postponed from last week; there are four levels of the teams by age and he is in the third one. This week they were all playing against Estepona on the two seven-a-side pitches during the morning; Jakes team’s goalkeeper did not show up so they had to ‘ Borrow ’ the small but very good goalkeeper from the first level team – he saved some cracking shots and they only lost 4-1 – Jake played very well and his two sisters cheered him on along with his dad and me ! See the pictures below; as I was watching the game my Mobile went and it was Andy asking us if we could give him a lift down to Duquesa as he had an interview for a job, his partner has the car for work and there are no buses over the weekend; so that is why there are some pictures of the marina and the best Italian restaurant that has been smartened up; we then called into Bar Rojas and had a Tapas snack and a few drinks with Andy – the picture of Lumy’s famous ‘ Patatas Fritas ’have had Brian over in Pori in Finland drooling at the mouth – happy memories ! For a change on Saturday evening we had Grilled Gammon Steak topped with fried local ‘ Campo ‘ Eggs along with crisp Chips and sliced Green Beans – the whole Gammon was from Xmas so I got my best ‘ Sabatier ’carving knife on the job and we have three meals and a small piece of Boiled Ham to use ! The Gammon was very tasty and not salty and we really enjoyed it. I bumped into our local councilor Mario earlier in the day and found out that the new square next to the Wine Centre is to be called ‘ Plaza Vendimia ’and the large retaining wall is going to have a Mosaic Mural about the Wine Festival – watch this spot for the pictures !

Thought for the Day;

Most of us have not lived in normal times.
