MANILVA THIS WEEKEND.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 30th/31st JULY 2011.

We have had a quiet weekend at home as there was nothing happening in the village; it was too hot to go down to the International Festival on the front at Sabinillas as there is no shade. Brenda, as usual, has been pottering about the house finding things to wash and clean ready for the arrival of David and Jane on their honeymoon when the Vendemia Festival is on at the start of September, we also spoke to Brian and Lilli who are coming over for a week at the same time, I’ts going to be one “Helluva “weekend! We are planning the menus as I am typing this, the wine and drink is already in stock, well enough to start! At lunchtime on Saturday we went up to Bar Rojas as Lumy had shown me on Friday the ‘Carne Mechada’ going in the pressure cooker, we had it thinly sliced, cold with a plate of Frits – delicious! In the evening we had Entrecote steak with all the trimmings for supper before we settled down to watch a film on TV.

Sunday was hot, no breeze so we stayed inside, the village goes dead as everybody does the same before they go down to the beach later in the day; I put a Loin of Pork into roast which we had for supper, cold with new Potatoes. In the afternoon Brenda retired to the roof terrace with her book and I watched the Grand Prix from Hungary, I couldn’t get the BBC coverage so I picked up the Spanish ‘ La Sexta ’channel on the PC.Jenson Button won in a thrilling race. Later in the evening we went for a short walk with Cheta and ended up at Bar Rojas for a nightcap, at this time of the night, 11-00pm the village come alive again, the bars fill up as families come out to eat,Lumy was very busy with mainly Pinchos,Calamari,Tapas,Montaditos and Frits ! Two very nice families came and sat next to us, they were from Holland and where staying at the Manilva Green Apathotel, after they had eaten we got talking to them and ended up going and getting our maps to show them the route to Cadiz as they were going there today !

Thought for the Day;

You can be pleased with nothing when you are not pleased with yourself.
