MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

SUNDAY 19th/ AUGUST 2012.

It was another hot one on Sunday as we got up ; the ‘ Levante ’wind has dropped so it is now very close and sticky all the time. After pottering about the house we freshened ourselves and went up to Bar Rojas for the Paella, Di,are new found friend joined us ,she had been for supper last night at Bar Rojas and had one of our recommendations ‘ Gallo Frito with Patatas Frits ’ – she is becoming a regular ! Tomorrow she is going on the bus to Marbella and on Tuesday we are taking her to Estepona shopping and then some lunch, then on Wednesday she has booked on a coach trip to see Granada before she goes back to England on Thursday from Gibraltar.

In the afternoon I followed the ‘ Vuelta ’ on TVE1 – Britain’s Ben Swift lost out on the print finish in Viana,he was third – Jonathan Castroviejo retained the ‘ Red Jersey ’as the overall leader as they head into a mountain stage on Monday that starts in the ‘ Faustino V ’vine fields ! Meanwhile in the football Real Madrid could only manage a 1-1 draw against Valencia at home but Barcelona won 5-1 v Real Sociedad at home with the help of a certain ' Mr Messi ! ' Over in England Manchester City picked up where they left off with a heart-stopping comeback victory 3-2 over Southampton on Sunday afternoon -I watched it live on my Football Channel on the large PC.The big game on Monday night is Everton v Manchester Utd !

PS; Everton beat Utd. 1-0 with an outstanding performance to deservedly claim victory ! Marouane Fellini scored with a header !!

In the evening after our ‘ Cocktail Hour ’up on the roof terrace we had supper; flattened Breast of Turkey pan fried in Lemon Butter with Basmati rice and fried Green Peppers which came from our neighbours vegetable garden in the morning with the famous ‘ Tomato Salsa ’on the side !

The late film was “ The Contender ” from 2000 – with Jeff Bridges as the president of USA with Joan Allen as the ‘ Contender ’for the VP job; she is a women with sexy secrets from her youth- it also stars Gary Oldman, Christian Slater and Sam Elliot – it shows American politics at its dirtiest !

Thought for the Day;

Though ambition in itself is a vice, it often is also the parent of virtue.
