LE TOUQUET

Mon. 4/9/06
Walked into the town approx a mile from the site, beautiful tree lined boulevards and the most
gorgeous houses on the outskirts of town. What a difference when we got into town the place was so peaceful after the last weekend of the season, some of the shops and rests close on Monday but had lunch at Jeans , this became one of our favourite water holes! Tried to buy
various other camp-site guides which had been recommended to us from people we met over the weekend, then paid a visit to the Tourism Office but could'nt get the information we needed.
Came back to the site and chatted to the Belgiun couple we met yesterday, shared a bottle of vino and some information outside in the sun .

Tues.5/9/06
Still enjoying walking around the town looking at the chic sophisticated shops, childrens clothes
are unbelievable, fresh fish galore ,

Wed.6/9/06
This was the first day we endevoured to try the scooter together so had a practise here and then
took off, it was fantastic, went all around the avenues and along the front , stopped off for an
aperitif here and there.
That evening we joined Eddy and Giselle for dinner at the Casino they cycled and we went on the scooter, it was so funny, wish someone could of taken a video of us! Had an excellent meal
and quite resonable.

Thurs.7/9/06
Out and about on scooter. Market day in Le Touquet, this is great by our standards, indoor and
outside, all the fresh fish, veg , meat/ charcutiere/ olives etc. you could wish for.
Invited our new friends for the evening to the Winnebago, had a buffet style supper with our
wares at the market, a late night chatting , but most enjoyable.

Fri.8/9/06
Hired a car and went into Bologne to a sports store 'Decathlon' which is on a huge industrial est.
would never have found it without the help of the tourism office. The reason for this visit was
to buy another collapsable bike, which we could'nt buy here, no space for normal bicycles with the scooter, also found the most amazing book shop, a vast one,but still can't get the guide we need for these large motor-homes. Had a nice lunch on the front overlooking the port.
spent the evening with Eddy and Ge-Ge again at the Casino (park outside the entrance and the
doorman takes the helmets!!).

Sat.9/9/06
Went out for the day with Eddie and Ge-Ge in their mobile home, went to 'Berch Sur-Mer' just
down the coast to their Market Day again an indoor/outdoor one even better than the previous
one we went to. Then went down to the sea front had a very pleasant al-fresco lunch, it was a
beautiful sunny day, vast white sands, sand dunes and loads of space.Unfortunately our home is
to big to drive around towns but we aim to go again on the scooter
We then drove to Montreuil-Sur-Mer, a walled medeival town with the most wonderful
breathtaking scenery, we walked the track around the villiage and went inside the cathedral,
just missed the wedding but saw them leaving in convoy tooting their horns.
Had dinner in town which had an 'Edith Piaf ' style singer on , again with our friends.

Sun.10/9/06
Normal morning had an aperitif here and discussed where we would meet up again , agreed to do so
at the end of Sept. as our friends had to leave later that day for Ostend. Then we all went to the
local race course to a car rally, this was the Touquet Paris Plage 2006 for Historique cars,
hundreds of them on show, some appearing in a style competion e.g. Couples dressed in styles
to compliment their cars , be it a Bentley ,Cadilac, Jaguar etc. A very pleasant Sunday afternoon
at this magnificent racecourse which is next to the airport.
