A RATHER GREY & OVERCAST DAY IN SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY - AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 6th/ APRIL 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 23 “

This morning we overslept a little until the noise of the goods delivery men woke us up, as you can see below they are getting a little under pressure and desperate !

After freshening up, as I was on the breakfast rota, yes youv’e guessed, I had my favourite, to start the week in the right direction, a ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with some of her favourite sliced Baby Mushrooms sautéed in butter, some of which made it into my butty, with mugs of hot/strong Tea.

Today has started a little grey & overcast with lots of clouds, there is a slight breeze so by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach 19 degs+ - overnight down to 13 degs+ - staying cloudy for the rest of the day, from tomorrow and the rest of the week up to Sunday we are in for a more settled time, with sunshine all the time, partly cloudy at moments and hovering in the high ‘ teens’ – with light to moderate winds picking up during the week, leading up to the ‘ Easter Weekend’ – sadly on Sunday seeing the return of the ‘Wet-Stuff’ – watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE . COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

Yesterday, as usual on a Sunday, we made contact with Brenda’s sister’s over in the UK, Jenny on the ‘ Skype’ audio line to her Mobile, as her landline is not accepting our calls, we then called, to start, as usual, Norah also on the ‘Skype’ audio line, it then all changed, as Norah has a new ‘Tablet’ and she has finally, after many years connected to ‘ Skype’ – so we called her back and for the first time in a few year were able to have a nice video chat! ‘Come on Jenny you know that you can do it’!!

PS; They are both fine & well!!

All the local services over the weekend have been out & about, all the time, as now usual, washing down, sanitizing and lastly humidifying all the streets in the village and all over the Manilva area, all the local  the ‘ Councillors’ and the Mayor, Mario, have taken pay-cuts and donated it to buy food staples for those in need.

Each day, as usual, we have our ' Happy Hour' when we have our first and only drink of the day - 'Honest' ! Brenda has a glass of White/Rose Wine and I of course have a ' Cuba Libre ' - meanwhile over in 'Casa Everett ' in Ontario, Canada, the folks, last night, were having ' Cool Margaritas ' - as you can see below.

See below some spectacular pictures taken over the weekend of Liverpool in ‘ Lockdown’

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Chicken Schnitzels’ – flattened Breast of Chicken coated in breadcrumbs and shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, topped with a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg – ‘Holstein’ style and served with lots of Lemon Wedges, accompanied with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and the rather nice classic  ‘ Hassleback’ Potatoes!

The ‘ Menus’ for the rest of the week have been agreed; tomorrow it’s going to be ‘ Burgers’ of choice, with hand-cut ‘ Stringfellows’ – on Wednesday we are having ‘ Braised Steak in a Rich ‘Red Wine and Onions & Shallots’ Gravy, then on Thursday it’s ‘ Grilled Chicken Wings’ with a Baked potato, Friday as usual will be a ‘ Fish N ‘Chip’  supper, Saturday is ‘ Steak Night ‘ and then on ‘Easter Sunday’ we are going to have hopefully a ‘ Roast Chicken’ with all the trimmings and of course ‘ Roast Potatoes, sadly still with no ‘ Goose-Fat’ for now!

This morning as I have been typing/posting today’s Blog I have been listening to the ‘ Lockdown Show’ coming from the three local Radio Stations, at the moment I have not guessed correctly, the ‘ Mystery Voice’ for today, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
