A ' FRESH' & SUNNY MANILVA ON ' EASTER SATURDAY '

SATURDAY 11th/ APRIL 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 28 “

We had a late start today and after a quick freshen up Brenda was on the breakfast rota so I had her now famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, ‘Scrambled’ for herself, with mugs of hot/strong tea to get another day on the go here in sunny Manilva.

After breakfast I retired upstairs to the office/studio and checked out all the ‘E-Mails, Facebook’ messages etc, before catching up with all the news from around the World, reading the newspapers (Online) – watching the TV (Online) – listen to the local ‘Radio Stations’ as usual, we are getting lots of nice kind thoughts from old friends all the time, one of the good things to come out of the ‘Lockdown’! “ Thanks “

We have yet another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out first thing and the sky is clear & blue, there is a light breeze so by lunchtime it will reach 18 degs+ - overnight down to 13 degs, staying ‘ fresh’ and sunny all day, tomorrow will be the same, then sadly on Monday, as the next new wet, windy & colder ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in, we are in for a very wet week, with lots of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ – hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ with lots of patchy clouds, the breeze stiffening and rain on most days including next weekend, the following week is not looking much better, watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

All very quiet, as usual, here in sunny Manilva, this morning, we are in for ‘ Long’ Easter Weekend – staying inside ‘SAFE & SOUND AT ALL TIMES’ – we have some ‘ Chocolate ‘ treats’ but sadly no ‘ Easter Eggs’!

The ‘ Council’ workforce have been out earlier this morning, as usual, washing, sanitizing & humidifying all the village, they then carry on down to Sabinillas and Castillo de la Duquesa!  “Thanks”

Tomorrow we are contacting all the family, Norah, Jenny & Sandra & Bill, on ‘ Skype’ video/audio calls, for all their news, all ours is of course on the ‘Blog’ – daily! Watch this space.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Steak N ‘Chips’ – a large slice of ‘Spanish’ Beef Steak, trimmed and seasoned, the fat is left on as it’s sweet, cooked ‘Med-Rare’ on a very hot griddle-plate, then left to rest, before carving it into ‘ Fingers’ – ‘French’ style and garnished with sliced Baby Mushrooms & shallow-fried Onion rings dipped in the ‘ Tempura Cruzcampo Beer Batter’ – accompanied with whole Baby ‘ French Green Beans and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’ – on the side a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce & Dijon Mustard!

For our ‘ Easter Sunday Roast’ it’s going to be a ‘ Roast Chicken ‘ this year, as we can’t get to the ‘Hahal Butcher’  down in Sabinilla for his excellent ‘Leg of Lamb’ – we have a local ‘Chicken’ ( 5 Euros only!)  which I will take-off the Leg & Thighs to roast separately, with the ‘ Crown’ – with a savoury0 ‘Mixed Herb’ stuffing, my famous ‘ finger-licking Pan Gravy and ‘Roast Potatoes’ ( par-boiled – sliced into half’s) sadly not in Goose Fat, for now, as I have none left, I will instead use the roasting juices from the Chicken! Not forgetting the large selection ( 5 at least) of fresh/local Vegetables!!   Watch this space.

All the time we are watching the TV – now having to ‘Channel’ hop to find something to watch, as well as keeping up with all the ‘Quiz Shows ‘ and series, that we follow, next Sunday it’s the return of the excellent ‘ Killing Eve’ – we are also finding lots of old programmes to catch up with!

“ STAY SAFE & SOUND INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
