A GLORIOUS WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 18th/ APRIL 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 35 “

After freshening up this morning, as usual, on a Saturday morning Brenda is on the breakfast rota so I had her famous ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ – boiled for herself with brown toast fingers – mugs of hot/strong tea on the side, to set us up for the long weekend ahead.

We have a now glorious start to the day here in sunny Manilva, down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the clouds are clearing away and there is a hint of a blue sky appearing, there is a very light breeze so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 20 degs+ - overnight only down to 14 degs+ - with the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ going away, tomorrow as the breeze picks up it could hit us, but it will still be 21 degs+ - next week is now going to be unsettled with moderate to heavy rain at times, then sunshine and patchy clouds, all the time hovering in the high ‘ teens’ – but still with a stiff breeze keeping it ‘ Fresh’ – the following week, leading into May – is now looking a bit more dry & settled on all the forecasts, watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 – PANDEMIC “

After breakfast Brenda ‘ Masked/Gloved’ up and shot along to the ‘ Chemists in ‘Calle Mar’ for the rest of our prescriptions, she then carried on back down to the ‘ Suma’ supermarket for a few essentials  that we needed.

There is no news at the moment about the expected extension to the ‘ LOCKDOWN’ which is at the moment due to finish on the 26th April, next Sunday, the ‘National’ government in Madrid, which is a ‘coalition’ has to pass the law though parliament, unlike over in the UK, hopefully it will happen in the next few days, as the figures over here in Spain are still not good, watch this space.

As usual this evening we will be going out on our doorstep at 8-00 pm to clap & whistle, wave to our neighbours and listen to all the music being played.

For our supper this evening we are having a piece of ‘Grilled Spanish Steak ‘ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest and carved into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with seared Button Mushrooms & Shallots, accompanied with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce, served with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’

I will be marinating the ‘ Spanish Lamb Steaks/Cutlets ‘ later, in  Virgin Olive Oil, Rosemary & Lemon Juice, which we are having tomorrow night ‘ Flash Grilled’ and resting on a bed of my famous ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes!

The ‘ Menus’ for next week have already been agreed; ‘ Lamb’ again on Monday, Tuesday will be ‘Liver’ and then on Wednesday ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks’ – ‘ Omelettes of Choice’ on Thursday, a ‘ Fish Supper’ on Friday and our regular ‘ Steak Night’ next Saturday, Sunday is still TBC, watch this space.

“ STAY SAFE & SOUND INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
