A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 12th / NOVEMBER 2016.

We managed a nice lie in this morning before the gas bottle delivery man came calling down our street, we then treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast of crispy ‘Smoked Bacon & Fried Eggs’ ( sadly still not Campo!) with buttered toast and mugs of tea. We have a quiet weekend just taking things easy with nothing to do but relax, eat & drink, a little! ‘ Chispa’ came calling a little later in the morning.

This evening for our supper it’s ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and left to rest before slicing it ‘ French style’ into fingers, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, crispy Onion rings cooked in the Beer Batter, whole Baby Green Beans and of course some twice-cooked ‘ proper ‘ Chips’ – a sauceboat of ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the side and a dash of Dijon Mustard! See below.

We have another dry & settled day here in sunny Manilva, overnight it was cool & crisp but this morning the sun broke through early and the sky is blue, there is no breeze and by lunchtime it’s due to reach the heady heights of 23 degs! A glorious day for the time of the year. Tomorrow we will have more of the same before the new weather front from the Atlantic hits us next week, we will have to wait and see what’s in store for us, watch this space.

See below the picture of the Bay of Llandudno this morning.

Last night we watched the football as England beat Scotland at Wembley 3-0 but didn’t play very well, on Tuesday England welcome Spain in a friendly at Wembley. Today we will watch one of the ' Rugby Union Internationals' as England play South Africa, Wales welcome Argentina, Scotland v Australia and Ireland play Canada. The Horse Racing is from the home of Jump Racing ' Cheltenham and over in Brazil at the 'Grand Prix' it's the qualifying round.

We then channel hopped and watched ‘ Rick Stein in Lisbon’ – it brought back some very happy memories when we went on an exciting train ride from the Algarve with two very dear friends, to Lisbon, for the day, part of the ticket was the ferry ride across the bay into the heart of the city, we ‘ did’ Lisbon’ as we ate  and drank our way around various restaurants & bars, ending up in harbour side bar before we found the right ferry back across to the train, there are 13 different destinations around the harbour!

Just like Rick Stein we tasted the little Fritters of Salt Cod, Chicken Piri Piri, Seafood  dishes of Prawns & Clams with Chilli and Coriander and of course the famous flaky Custard Tarts ‘ Pasteis de Nata’ and of course a little ‘ Fado’ music in the ‘ Bairro Alto’ reach by a very old/small tram!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
