We managed another lie in this morning until
the church bells started ringing, calling the ‘faithful’ to mass, the village
Padre, Jose Antonio, was forty yesterday so they will be making a fuss with
him, he’s just returned from some missionary work in West Africa.
We then got ourselves freshened up, ‘Pax’
waits as we get ready, he follows Brenda everywhere, she feeds him, he’s not
daft! We then took him out for his walk around the village, he’s very good as
we are out, he leaves all his ‘messages’ in regular places, he is very settled
and content here with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’- we are going to miss him terribly
when he’s collected tomorrow by Jane when she returns from her holiday in
Canada. Hopefully he will be back with us again in the future?!
Overnight the threatened rain did not
appear, the wind got up and this morning its started a lot cooler, the clouds
are now clearing and at the moment there is no sign of the wet stuff; next week
is looking cooler to start then picking up later in the week and going back to
normal for the time of the year, watch this space.
This evening’s supper all takes place
tonight as I cook the ‘Risotto’ – A La Carte style, to order, it takes 30
minutes, this morning the ‘ Vegetable Chef’ has prepared the ‘Broad Beans (
shelled!) - whole/fine French Beans and the local diamond cut Green Beans’ I
use the local ‘Arborio’ Risotto Rice from Valencia, finally chopped Onions with
a little clove of Garlic, a large slug of Brenda’s best White Wine to deglaze the pan, along with a good/strong
Chicken & Vegetables stock are then added slowly, stirring all the time, I
then add the three beans and the diced/cooked ‘Smoked Chicken’ to cook off,
adjust the seasoning, to taste, check the consistency, before adding a dash of
double cream and Parmesan, finally I garnish the dish with seared Asparagus
spears!
Speaking of Valencia, the ‘ Moffats’ Tim
& Thea, have moved down the coast, south east, to ‘ Pilar De La Horadada’
in the ‘Province of Alicante’ just above Murcia;
See below some pictures of the ‘Fireworks’
Display in ‘Eirias Park’ in Colwyn Bay, taken over the weekend, in the heavy
rain, the building is the local Council offices, Thea used to work just across
from them in the ‘Police Headquarters’!
Just a very quick update on the football
results, so far; Manchester City gave away a win when they missed a penalty and
drew 1-1, then Everton were thrashed by Chelsea 5-0, there are two ‘Brian’s’ here
in sunny Manilva that will not be very happy ‘Blues’ this morning!!
Next week we are at the Hospital on
Wednesday, first thing in the morning for some more Blood/Urine tests for
Brenda before her appointment with the ‘ Kidney Consultant’ later in the month,
then at lunchtime I have my yearly appointment with my ‘ Prostrate Consultant’-
we are going to pop out to ‘La Canadña ‘ for some Retail Therapy’ ‘Reina’ is
back with us for four days next week, of course ‘Pax’ goes home on Monday. I
will be out on my travels on Friday for the weekly shopping.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
