A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEK;

MONDAY 14th/ NOVEMBER 2016.

I was up early this morning to see ‘Reina’ back with us for the day; she shot into her duvet and we had a little lie in before getting the week ahead on the go, we had breakfast of ‘ Smoked Bacon Butties’ with a mugs of steaming tea, to set us up for the day ahead! Antonio, the painter, arrived to check out the damp in the bedroom, bathroom & office/studio as well as other spots around the house, he’s gone off to get the paint etc and is starting in an hour – another ‘ RESULT ‘!!

Yesterday evening Mario and his wife Anna, our neighbours and the new Mayor called in to see us, we had a nice chat & gossip, he thanked us for our support over the years, he asked if there was anything he could do, so I told him a few things that have been on the agenda for a while, for example ‘ Tree’ cutting in Calle Mar, a pavement on the road to the school, general cleaning in the village, the new indoor pool opening, etc -  he takes over this morning and has just announced on the Council web-site the various jobs for his co-councillors, watch this space!

He had just come back from Malaga where the ‘ Manilva Junior Basketball’ team had won the ‘Championship of Andalusia’ – he’s the President of the local Basketball Association’ – his oldest son plays in the Senior team, congratulations to the team!

The week has started well, the sun is out, the sky is blue, there is no breeze and it looks like we are in for a good day ahead, the rest of the week we will have to wait to see on the weather forecast on the main afternoon news on ‘TVE’

Tonight we will be out to see the spectacular ‘  Super Moon’ as it orbits as close to Earth as is has been for almost 70 years, it appears to be bigger than normal – by 10 per cent, sadly not up on our roof terrace, we will go up to Calle Mar.

See below, over sunny Manilva now!

For our supper this evening we are going to have ‘ Cold Roast Lamb’ with a fry-up of the leftover vegetables & the rest of the ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes, the Lamb  is very tasty, the garlic makes the difference, we love cold roast meats carved to perfection! On Tuesday its going to be Grilled Gammon, the rest of the week is TBC.

Yesterday evening before supper we watched the results show of ‘ Strictly Come Dancing’ – then after the second part of ‘ Planet Earth II ’ – this week in the Mountains, with spectacular shots of Snow Leopards fighting & mating, Grizzle Bears rubbing their itch’s on trees, Golden Eagles diving at over 200 mph, Pink Flamingo's courting and Baby Ibex escaping a Fox on the high/sheer cliff faces! Breathtaking!!

We then caught the highlights programme on Channel 4 of the ‘ Brazilian Grand Prix’ – it was the most gripping race of the year, thanks to the heavy rain storms, in treacherous conditions, over at the ‘Interlagos’ circuit in Sao Paulo. Lewis Hamilton won, class shows! He led from start to finish overcoming numerous ‘safety cars’ as various crashes took place, and the race being stopped on two occasion, it was Max Verstappen, the 19 year old Dutch driver, that stole the show with his incredible comeback drive from way down the field, he overtook 13 cars, on his way to a podium finish ( 3rd) with precision driving, under breaking and passing on corners where it’s normally impossible, all in the rain!  The battle for the ‘Championship’ between Hamilton & Rosberg will be decided at the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi in two weeks time, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
