We had a nice long lie in this morning
after a busy week out & about down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ We have a nice
relaxing weekend ahead with no plans, so far, just doing nothing, taking things
very easy, we had our normal Saturday breakfast of Fried Eggs ( still not
Campo!) with crispy Smoked Bacon, toast and tea, Brenda then decided to put the
washing on as next week is now looking cold & damp by Wednesday.
All the fans have been put away and the oil
heater is out in the lounge ready for next week! When we are over at the Hospital
on Tuesday morning for Brenda’s second ‘X-Ray’ we are on the way back going to
call into ‘Leroy Merlin’ to find a small oil heater for the guest bedroom.
This morning has started grey &
overcast but by lunchtime the sun is due to break through, its ‘ crisp’ at the
moment but hopefully it will warm up a bit later, on Sunday it’s more of the
same but by Monday/Tuesday the cold and
wet ‘Atlantic’ front is due to make its way across us, bringing rain & wind,
possibly for the rest of the week, next weekend our friend Gillian is due to
arrive, fingers crossed that it picks up a little for her visit, watch this
space.
For our supper this evening we are having ‘
Grilled English Rump Steak ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’
garnished with Button Mushrooms, Asparagus Spears & deep-fried Onion Rings –
the steaks topped with a Fried Egg! Whole Green Beans & our current favourite,
twice-cooked ‘ Pont Neuf’ Chips, as well as a little ‘Bearnaise’ sauce and ‘Dijon
Mustard’ on the side. Tomorrow evening it’s going to be ‘ Pan-Fried Escalope’s
of Turkey Breast ‘ in a Lime Butter sauce resting on a bed of Savoury Basmati
Rice with a sauceboat of creamy Mushroom sauce.
On the sports front this weekend we will be
watching the Jump Racing from Haydock Park, the Tennis from the ‘ 02 Arena’ and
the ‘ International Rugby Union’ – meanwhile over in the ‘ Premiere League’
Everton are at home to Swansea, Manchester City travel down to play Crystal
Palace and Liverpool have the long trip down to Southampton; here in ‘ La Liga’
Barcelona welcome Malaga and the ‘ Match of the Day’ is the ‘ Derby’ game as
Atl. Madrid welcome Real Madrid!
Before supper we will watch ‘ Strictly Come
Dancing’ as this week it’s coming from the famous Tower Ballroom in Blackpool,
with it’s famous ‘ Springy’ dance floor made of Mahogany, Oak & Walnut, as
a small child, one of my earliest memories was going to see ‘Reginald Dixon’
playing the famous ‘ Wurlitzer Organ’ in the Ballroom and at the same time
going to the ‘ Tower Circus ‘ which is positioned at the base of the Tower
between its four legs! The classic clown ‘ Charlie Cairoli’ - with a ‘Red
Nose’ and a Charlie Chaplin-style bowler hat appeared at the Tower for nearly
39 years, the ‘ Ringmaster’ was the famous ‘Norman Barrett’ The Circus ring can be lowered into a pool of
water which allows for the ‘ Grand Finales’ with the Dancing Fountains’
I also went on the famous ‘ Grand National’
twin-track, wooden roller coaster at the ‘ Pleasure Beach’- now one of only
three surviving ‘ Moblus Loop’ roller
coasters in the World. Many years later we took Tim’s first children, Simon & Stacy, on the ride
along with Tim! We had previously started them at the ‘ Southport Pleasureland ‘
on the ‘ Mini Big Dipper’ which went round once and then reversed backwards!! Later
we progressed to ‘ Alton Towers ‘ with Tim’s second children Jo & Ben, when
they reached the correct height restrictions, ‘Nemesis, Oblivion & the
Congo River Rapids’!! Happy days and many
Happy memories.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
