A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 18th/ JULY 2014.

Up early again this morning as Brenda had an appointment at the surgery with our doctor for an update/check up; all OK and we confirmed some details about the next visit to the ‘Cardiology Consultant’ and blood tests.

We then shot down to Sabinillas to the bank first, then the ‘Ferratiras’ for some hooks to hang the new shutters ( hopefully this evening!) – Next the supermarket before it got to busy, then the garden centre for some new plants for the wall pots and finely ‘Super Sol’ for the English essentials!

Then after unpacking I got things on the go for tonight’s supper, Den & Josie are joining us for my famous “ Goujons of Hake Fillet in Cruz Campo Beer Batter ” with Mushy Peas and twice-cooked Chips, lots of Lemon Wedges and of course my very famous homemade ‘Tartar Sauce with a ‘Twist’ as Josie is bringing her own recipe ‘Tartar Sauce’ from Skelton ! Let the ‘WAR’ in up-town sunny Manilva begin – the knives are out and the ‘Palates’ will be tested- I accept the challenge!!

Afterwards we are going up to the top of our street for the ‘Flamenco Fashion Show’ in front of the Town Hall,see the poster below, they are building the walk -way at the moment -see the pictures above; then tomorrow night Claus & Doreen have asked us to join them at the “ Moroccan Dinner’ up at ‘Victor’s Restaurant’ in the Manilva Green Apart hotel – its where we first met them when it was here in the village!

On the sports front this weekend the ‘Open Golf Championship’ is taking place at ‘Royal Liverpool – Hoylake’on the Wirral,the German ‘Grand Prix’is at ‘Hockenheim’ and the ‘Tour De France’ enters the Alps on stage 13 from Saint Etienne to a very steep 30km high finish at Chamrousse.

The Italian rider Vincenzo Nibali extended his overall lead by winning stage 13 and leaving all his rivals behind on the final long climb -he now leads the Tour by 3mins 37secs going into another big day in the Alps on Saturday.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
