THURSDAY 24th/JULY
2014.
Up and
at’em again this morning as we are doing the shopping today instead of our
normal Friday due to ‘Doggy’ sitting duties! Bank first then the ‘English’
bookshop for the papers and onto the supermarket; then back up to the house
before Calle Mar is closed for the weekend for the Friday Band concert and
Saturday’s celebrations, they are erecting the stage at the moment and the
bunting and lights are going up!
I then
checked the oil and water in the ‘Red Limousine’ ready for tonight’s ‘Job!’ –
taking us all down to Sabinillas as Den & Josie are treating us to a
‘Tapas’ extravaganza at one of their favorite Bars down on the promenade;
pre-evening cocktails at ours with some nibbles.
Yesterday
evening we had very nice ‘Facebook’ Live Message from our friend Kathrin who we
met when Claus & Doreen introduced her to us, she is driving down with her
husband Bruno and their dog ‘Alfie’ from Maidenhead to stay at their apartment
in Estepona so we are going to meet up some time next week, we are really
looking forward to seeing her again and meeting her husband.
Today’s its
stage 18 of the ‘Tour De France’ from ‘Pau to Hautacam’ with the final climb up
the ‘Mythical’mountian after first the iconic ‘Col du Tourmalet’to negotiate;
yesterday the Polish rider Rafal Majka clinched his second stage win as Nibali
extend his overall lead.He has just won today's stage and left all the field behind in his wake!! See the picture below.
Last night
film was a rather strange one starring George Clooney “ The Descendants” from
2011 about a land baron in Honolulu and an unexpected occurrence in his
monotonous life; with Shallene Woodley, Patricia Hastle and Beau Bridges – it
was nominated for many awards and won an ‘Oscar’ for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’
and two ‘Golden Globes’ for Clooney & Woodley!!
And finally
later on last night I watched a live concert from the “ Hondarriba Blues
Festival! In San Sabastian; it was the ‘Steven Seagal Band!’ – To say that it
was awful is some what of an understatement to say the least! He sings as well
as he acts, with no voice and no feeling in a monotonous dirge! I felt sorry
for his backing band of fine session musicians who were observably embarrassed,
his style of guitar playing using his thumb and first finger with no plectrum
was just too bad to be seen! Also he changed guitars after every number when a ‘Roadie’
had to help him change from one to another – it made no discernable
difference!!
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
