" LA FINCA THAI FUSION " - SAN ROQUE - CADIZ - ON SUNDAY LUNCHTIME.

SUNDAY 1st/ DECEMBER 2019.

We had a nice lazy morning, after a little lie in, we had our breakfast, as I was on the breakfast rota, a ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – smothered with ‘HP’ Brown sauce - open on brown for Brenda, with some sliced Baby Mushrooms seared in the bacon juices with a knob of butter, with mugs of hot/strong Tea, to set us up for the day ahead!

We then slowly, for a change, got ourselves ready to go out, after showering etc, we then dressed and set off on our travels, along the coast road past Sotogrande, with the Mediterranean sparking in the sunshine, we arrived at the ‘La  Finca Thai Fusion ‘ which was very busy, with lots of cars parked along the road!

It looks rather drab and uninviting from the outside, but inside it’s an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of colour & decoration, very warming and friendly with lots of atmosphere.

We were greeted by the hostess and our drinks arrived very quickly, a very nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc, for Brenda, and my usual Bacardi & Coke, in a large cut glass!

We chose to start, as recommended by the waiter, a small sharing platter of the House ‘Spring Rolls’ – Brenda chose the ‘ Roast Leg of Lamb’ and I went for the ‘ Roast Sirloin of Beef’ – two extremely large portions arrived, both very tasty, ‘thick-cut’ and succulent, with on the large plates, Roast & Mashed Potato, Savoury Stuffing & ‘Mushy Peas’ –  both topped with a very large ‘Yorkshire Puddings’ – like we used to serve back at the ‘Hotel 70* - on our classic ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch’! A dish of glazed Parsnips, Broccoli, Cauliflower & crushed Carrots came along with a sauceboat of proper ‘finger-licking’ Pan Gravy, all perfect and accompanied with our own sauces, Mint, Horseradish & Apple!

See below;

Brenda had a glass of the ‘House’ Rueda, I also ordered a rather unusual bottle of a ‘ Cava Rosado Pinot Noir’ to toast ourselves, which we brought home with us to finish later! For our dessert we had, between us, a ‘Apple & Rhubarb Crumble’ with proper Custard & Cream. By this time the place was ‘Rocking’ – with lots of families, they must have done over 150 covers! We shall return, to sample the ‘ Thai’ menu, on another occasion, watch this space.

PS; The normal ‘Blog’ will return tomorrow.
