We were up early this morning and after a
quick freshen up I went up to ‘Calle Mar’ outside the Town Hall where Leah was
waiting to take me down to the ‘ English Butchers ‘ in Puerto de la Duquesa
Marina, to pick up our fresh ‘ Xmas Turkey ‘ along with lots of other ‘ goodies’
for over the Christmas celebrations.
Meanwhile Brenda took ‘ Pucci’ out for his
first walk of the day, he slept all night, as usual, downstairs on the settees,
he’s settled in very well and is into
the routine, he’s eating well and had found his ‘spots’ around the bottom of
the village. ‘ Chico’ was then dropped off for his short ‘ Xmas Break’ ( 5
days) and has settled in with ‘Pucci’ – who he has met before, watch this
space.
She also called into the local ‘Sub-Post’
office, to post some ‘late’ cards, sadly the weighing machine was not working,
so she had to go along to the ‘Tabacs’ for the stamps and posted them in the
post box at the top of our street, at the same time she stopped at the ‘
Chemists’ in Calle Mar to top up our prescription tablets, finally calling into
the local shop, at the bottom of our street for the fresh essentials.
We have another glorious day down here on
the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – after ‘ Storm
Elsa’ last week, which caused lots of damage all over Andalusia, as well as
seven deaths! We were very lucky down her and up in sunny Manilva, as the worst
of the storm passed us by. The sun was out first thing and the sky is bright
blue and clear, the breeze has dropped, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 22
degs! It’s at the moment very hot & sunny, with more to come over the next
few days, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ up to the weekend, overnight only
dropping down to 13/14 degs! Next week is also now looking dry & settled as
we go into 2020!
This evening for our supper we are having ‘
Escalope’s of Chicken Breast’ – pan-seared and finished with a Lemon & Balsamic
Butter salsa, served with finely sliced ‘
French’ Baby Green Beans and triple-cooked ‘ Chips’
Over the weekend Sandra & Bill, in a ‘snowy’
Everett, Ontario, Canada, had a ‘ Glazed
Ham’ for their supper, see below;
Tomorrow, Tuesday on ‘ Nochebuena’ - we are preparing all the ‘ Xmas Day’ Banquet,
as much as possible, I will be roasting the fresh ‘ Crown of Turkey’ - the
Butcher cut-off the Legs & Thighs, which I roast separately, at the same time, the ‘Pigs in
Blankets’ and the savoury ‘Mixed Herb’ stuffing will be made/cooked off, I’m
will also make my famous ‘ Finger-Licking ‘ Pan Gravy’ - meanwhile the ‘ Second
Chef’ will be preparing all her selection of fresh local Vegetables, including
Whole Baby Carrots, Parsnip Batons, Brussels Sprouts with Bacon etc, my famous ‘Goose
Fat Roast Potatoes’ will be prepared/roasted on ‘Xmas Day’!
On ‘ Christmas Day – Dia de Navidad ‘ we
are calling Lyn, first thing in the morning here, over in a very hot Melbourne,
Australia ( 40 degs+!) on the ‘ Skype/Facebook Messanger’ video, later in the
morning we will make contact with Jenny & Norah, at Norah’s, on the ‘ Skype’
Audio call system, Leah & her son Deemy, are then joining us for a ‘Christmas
Drink/Toast, with nibbles, as they going to a friends for their ‘Xmas Lunch’ –
they are leaving little ‘Miss Bella’ with us for a few hours, at 6-00 pm, our
time, we have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video link-up with Sandra & Bill and all
the family, over in Everett, Ontario Canada, will also attempt to make contact
with Tim & Thea, with Jo & Ben, up in ‘Magical Mojacar’ - during the
day, watch this space.
On our lunchtime walk, with the two dogs,
we are going to stop at ‘Bar Castillo’ and sit outside in the hot sunshine for
a nice cool drink, we will then this
afternoon/evening catch up with all the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow, later
channel hopping to find something to watch, a good film is possible, as all the
‘Xmas’ repeats are boring, watch this space.
See below a spectacular picture taken this morning, over in North Wales, of the ' Ffestinigog Railway' crossing the ' Cob' out of Porthmadog, with the 'Cnict & Moelwyn ' mountains of Snowdonia!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
