A VERY ' SHARP' AND OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 13th/DECEMBER 2019 !

I was up very early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels, down to Sabinillas, for the weekly shopping. I had a quick toast & tea in ‘ ItsZabar’ before ‘ Mercadona’ opened, I’m getting quicker as I find my way around the isles, I picked up the local newspapers from the ‘ English Bookshop’ before dropping down to the far-end of the promenade to the local market for our wall plants, he gave me a ‘ Poinsettia’ for Brenda, lastly I stopped at ‘ Super Sol’ for our ‘English’ essentials, before unloading back at the house.

This morning as I set off on my travels it was rather cold & damp, the breeze had stiffened overnight and there were black clouds over the mountains, around the village, with the threat of rain in the air, by lunchtime it’s only going to reach 16 degs+ - overnight down to 12 degs+ - tomorrow and over the weekend it’s staying the same, but dry, next week as a new ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in it’s going to get colder, with lots of the ‘ wet-Stuff’ for most of the week, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – down to 12 degs by Tuesday, overnight as low as 7/8 degs!  Watch this space.

We had a ‘ Helluva’ evening in Malaga last night, we arrived in time to see the first showing of the ‘ Xmas Lights & Music’ extravaganza, which was spectacular, ‘ Calle Larios’ was packed full with thousands of people, we had our first glass of ‘Cava’ in the only Bar/Cafeteria ‘ Lepanto’ along the street, we then called in to the main ‘ Pandora’ shop where I bought Brenda a small letter ‘ B’ – to add to her chain, before stopping for our usual ‘ Benjamin’s’ of Cava, at the famous ‘ Cafe Central’ in the main Plaza.

See the pictures above.

Next we headed through the narrow streets to the ‘Marriott Hotel AC Malaga Palacio’ – going up to the 15th  floor pool-side, roof-top ‘Cocktail Bar’ for another glass of the house ‘ Cava’

I was then time to have supper so we ended up back at our favourite ‘ Cerveceria’ – “ Los Gatos “ – around the corner from the Cathedral, in the heart of the Bar & Restaurants area. As usual it was full and very loud & busy, as we found a table in the centre of all the ‘action’!

Two more glasses of the house ‘ Cava’ arrived, as we ordered two of the their excellent warm ‘Pintxos’ to start, one open Prawn, one open Smoked Salmon, for our main course Brenda had a ‘ Ration’ of sliced marinated ( Ximenez Balsamic ) Pork, served on ‘Frits’ while I ordered a large ‘ Entrecote – Sirloin’ steak ‘Rare’ – sliced and served on ‘ Frits’ garnished with seared Green and Red Peppers & Aubergine. Both very tasty and succulent, sadly no pictures as the battery ran out! The ‘ House wine for Brenda and more Cava for me finished our evening as we started!

It was then time to catch the coach back to the village after another ‘ Helluva’ evening in Malaga, getting home by 1-00 am!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Sole – Lenguado ‘ – the ‘fish-monger’ took off the dark skins for me, I will lightly dust them in seasoned flour and colour them in the pan, before baking them in the hot oven, finished ‘ A La Meuniere’ style with ‘ Nut Brown Parsley Butter’ - after taking the fillets off the bone – served with Broccoli Florets & Garden Peas and for a change triple-cooked ‘ Frits’!

On Saturday evening it’s going to ‘ Grilled Fillet’ steaks with all the trimmings, then on Sunday, for a change we are going to have ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’

Tomorrow morning we have ‘Nacho’ with us for the day in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – then on Sunday we are putting up the ‘ Xmas’ decorations. This evening after supper we will channel hop to find something to watch.

PS; The ‘Xmas’ cards have started to arrive, yesterday lunchtime, including a ‘Post Card’ from Vienna!  ‘Thanks’

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
