A ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY - " NEW YEARS EVE 2020 !

....

A NOW VERY ' FRESH' & CLEARING SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY " NEW YEARS EVE - VISPERE DE AÑO NUEVO "

TUESDAY 31st/ DECEMBER 2019. “ NEW YEARS EVE – VISPERE DE AÑO NUEVO “

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot of on my travels, down to Sabinillas with Leah, in her car, who had very kindly offered to take me, we did ‘ Mercadona’ first, then I called into ‘ Super Sol ‘ for some English essentials.

Finally stopping at the local ‘  Mediterranea’ Vets for some more ‘ Calming’ tablets for ‘Pucci’ who doesn’t like the Fireworks – he had an attack the other day, when some loud ‘ Bangers’ went off, outside the house, then yesterday afternoon some local children, at the bottom of our street let some more off, I went out and asked them to stop and move on, which they did, we will give his one earlier in the evening and then another one later, as prescribed, I have, as usual, now taken off our letterbox, outside our front door, as in the past we have had it blown off-twice!!

Brenda had a little lie as she had been awoken very early, again’ by ‘Pucci’ asking to go out (4-00am!)  He’s very ‘ regular’ when we take him during the day ( 4 times!) – he is due to be picked up later tomorrow evening.

When I returned I had a quick toast & tea before coming up to the office/studio to go on the ‘WWW’ and then type/post today’s Blog.

This morning has one again started cold, grey & overcast, but as we went down through the vive fields this morning there was a brilliant  red stripe/sunrise above the Mediterranean, with black dark clouds above, there is still a stiff breeze so by lunchtime it’s due to only reach 15 degs+ - overnight down to 10 degs+ - tomorrow, for the first day of the ‘New Year 2020’ at the start of the new decade, it’s looking the same, with some sunshine and a few patchy clouds, staying like that over the coming weekend, hovering in the mid/high ‘teens’ as the breeze drops, next week is now looking settled, but a little cooler, with the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ returning at times, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are now having a large ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef – Costilla/Chuelton de Ternera “ – cooked on the ‘ bone’ in a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare ‘ – then left to rest, before taking it off the bone and slicing it into fingers ‘ French ‘ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms & Shallots, accompanied with the classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘sauce, served with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’

The ‘Menus’ for the rest of the week have been agreed; tomorrow evening it’s going to be ‘ Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ – on Thursday ‘Grilled Chicken Wings’ – then on Friday it will be a ‘ Fish n ‘Chip Supper ‘ – on Saturday Brenda is now having a ‘ Confit of Duck Leg’ and I’m having a ‘ Angus Steak’ – for a change on Sunday we are going to have a later ‘ Brunch’ – with the full works!  Watch this space.

This evening after supper we will settle down ‘ Darby & Joan ‘ style to see in the ‘ New Year 2020’ – ‘ Four’ times!  Over in Australia all the family & folks have already seen it in, the multi-million dollar ‘Sydney Harbour Bridge’ “ FIREWORKS “ display went on despite the wild bush fires!

We then here in Spain see in the ‘New Year’ watching the celebrations from Madrid on ‘TVE1’ while eating twelve grapes, by tradition, on the strike on mid-night!

It’s then time to watch the ‘Jools’ Holland Annual Hootenanny’ on ‘BBC 2’ as the ‘New Year’ arrives over in the UK.

Finally six hours later over in Everett, Ontario, Canada the family will be bringing in the ‘New Year’ in their own style.

And finally !

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A RATHER GREY SUNNY MANILVA;

....

A RATHER COLD, GREY & OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE NEW YEAR WEEK/DECADE !

MONDAY 30th/ DECEMBER 2019.

We managed another nice lie in this morning, as ‘Pucci’ needed to go out again, very early, Brenda heard him, so she took him along the street, at 5-00am! He goes out four time a day and is very ‘regular’ but this a new ‘ thing’ for him?!

After freshening up Brenda shot along to the local ‘Chemists’ in Calle Mar, as she had a problem with one of her prescription tablets, which is now sorted, but will still need to see our new Doctor in the New Year!

When she returned I had prepared a open Brown toast & Crispy Smoked Bacon – ‘ slice’ for her, so youv’e guessed, I had my favourite ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce for myself, with mugs of hot/strong tea, to set us up for the week ahead!

I can hear a ‘ New Year’s Resolution’ coming up!!

This morning has started rather cold & overcast, with grey clouds, just like yesterday, there is stiff breeze, so by lunchtime it’s forecast to only reach 15 degs+ - with just a chance of the sunshine breaking through later, tomorrow staying the same, the start of the ‘New Year 2020’  on Wednesday, is looking like we are in for more of the same, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – the breeze is dropping a little, overnight going down to 9/10 degs, with the chance of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ still in the air, at times, the following week, is at the moment showing sunshine with patchy clouds, going a little warmer, watch this space.

Just a very quick update on the football scores; Everton won 1-2 , making the two Brian’s very happy ‘ Blues’ – Liverpool won 1-0 & Manchester City won 2-0.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Baked Pork Loin Steaks’ – seared on a very hot griddle-plate, for colour, then finished in a hot oven, accompanied with the old classic ‘ Charcutiere’ sauce, sliced Shallots & Garlic and sliced Gherkins, sweated off with White Wine, Dijon Mustard and Vinegar, then a rich ‘Demi-Glaze’ added and left to cook off, served with Crushed Carrots & Turnips, Garden Peas and another old classic ‘ Lyonnaise Potatoes’ – sautéed sliced Onions & Boiled Potatoes, in foaming Parsley Butter.

The ‘ Menus’ for the rest of the week are still TBC, watch this space.

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the first episode of “ The Trail of Christine Keeler “ on BBC TV 1 – she is played by  Sophie Cookson, it was a ‘ Cracker’ as the story unfolded, the surprise is the ages of her and Mandy Rice Davies, at that time, back in 1962/3 – both 18/19 year old! All the main characters are very well acted and the settings in the London of the ‘Swinging 60s’ are very good, episode 2 is this evening, one not to miss!
