No need for
the alarm this morning as the workmen arrived on time and commenced to erect
the steel frame and pillars for the next floor which will of course surround
our roof terrace on two sides even before the roof goes on!! We will not now be
able to see Josie’s back roof top terrace of her apartment to keep an eye on
her and vice- versa!!
After
breakfast we grabbed a quick shower and shot out on our travels along the coast
on a most spectacular and hot sunny day down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ The
forecast for the rest of the week is for more of the same and getting even
hotter.
The
shopping mall above Marbella ‘La Cananda’ is always busy, as we started down
the long main mall; Brenda picked up some essential make-up from her favorite
large ‘Perfumeria’and I made my fist purchase of the day in my favorite men’s
shop ‘Baileys’ were I bought s very nice( expensive) stripped Blue shirt to go
with my new Blue shoes.
Next we hit
‘C & As’ were Brenda found some White summer shorts & a pair of
Turquoise slacks and I found a bright Blue shirt for this Sunday! Brenda went
off to ‘Mango’ and found a very nice White top for this Sunday!! Meanwhile I
was in ‘Marks & Spencer’s’ and with the help of a very good lady assistant,
who knew my inside trouser leg measurement, just by looking, I bought a pair of
light wait summer Silver Grey slacks to round off our shopping expedition for
today!
On the way
back we called into ‘San Pedro de Alcantara’ to go for a Tapas lunch at our
favorite bar on the new Boulevard ,which by then was very hot, as we sat in the
shade and took in the sights & sound of the town; Brenda had the ‘Rosado
Frito’ and I had the ‘Tortelitas Camarones’ ‘Pollo au Curry’ & a Mini ‘Hamburger’
- as you can see in the picture above.
We then
shot back along the coast road past the sparkling Mediterranean and up to a very hot & sunny
Manilva; some of the dates in our social diary have now firmed up, on this
Friday evening it’s the ‘Manilva School of Music’ end of term grand concert on
the roof terrace above the Police station in front of the school. The ‘Fire’
festival of ‘San Juan ’ on the beach front in Sabinillas is this year
on Tuesday 23RD
Brenda has
made her appointment at the hairdressers for the full works tomorrow lunchtime
and I have confirmed our table for Sunday lunch at ‘Cocomo’ - this Sunday for
Brenda’s birthday. Next week we are picking Josie up on Monday evening and Den
on Saturday evening at the bus station over in Marbella – both at 11 -15pm!!
Later this
afternoon after the workmen have finished we will go up on the roof terrace for
our ‘Happy Hour’ and to check out what they have been up to today – see the
pictures below. The 'Triffids' have arrived! Next it will be the walls, then the ceiling and finally the roof!!

Last night
after our supper we watched a very good film produced & directed by Clint
Eastwood “ Invictus” ( Latin for unconquered) from 2009 about the life of
Nelson Mandela around the time of the 1995 ‘World Rugby Union’ finals that took
place in South Africa; Morgan Freeman was ‘born’ to play Nelson Mandela and
Matt Damon plays the part of the inspirational Captain of the South African
team, Francis Pienaar. One not to miss!
Thought for
the Day; See above.
