A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 18th/ APRIL 2015.

Just a little lie in this morning after last nights ‘Staff Night Out’ The Presentation in the theater by the ‘Manilva en el Recuerdo’ web page was packed with all the villagers, it was very moving as the video started on the large screen, the whole audience started clapping and shouting out the names of their family members, as they appeared, we were sat at the back next to two old ladies who were mesmerized as their fathers & mothers pictures from the past, mostly in the 1900s appeared, Antonia (Abuelo) was in tears.

It showed the old streets of Manilva, the festivals, the buildings, sport, and people of the time, so most of the villagers at the presentation came on the screen as children! It gave you a sense of the strong community sprit which is still present to this day and the reason why we love living in Sunny Manilva. See the pictures above of old Manilva.

We then carried on down to the Duquesa Marina and made our way to ‘The Place’ just as Daniela was starting her first ‘set’ of the night, the bar was packed and we had excellent table service from the waiter as we treated ourselves to some ‘proper’ drinks, the owner of the bar, Valerie is a great friend of Anna, Brenda’s hairdresser so we made ourselves known to her. See the picture below of Daniela singing the “ Eagles” ‘Hotel California’

                                                           Just to prove that we were there!

                                                                   One 'Helluva' " Ponytail "

It was then time to go along to ‘Tim’s’ Fish & Chip shop for our supper, sat outside in the warm night air; he immediately recognized me from the Blog and Facebook as last year we met some of his family up in the village and I wrote about them on the Blog, he even asked me why as why we where not at home eating our usual Friday night ‘Cruzecampo Battered Hake’ and twice cooked Chips?! We had the excellent Cod in his natural Batter with crisp Chips and his special Mushy Peas. See the picture below of his menu.

He recommended that if we wanted a drink to go next door to ‘The Bar’So off I went and as soon as entered the owners wife Christine also recognized me, she is a great friend of ‘Wendy Spendy’ Newman, Paul,s wife and used to work with her in Manchester, she also follows the Blog and my food pictures on Facebook! What it is to be ‘Famous’! At this rate I will soon be giving autographs!! One ‘Helluva’ staff night out.

After breakfast this morning Brenda has started to prepare the ingredients for my special ‘Ensaldilla Rusa – Russian Salad’ that is now back on the menu,in fact Mano & Anna have asked when it was re appearing?!

For our supper this evening we are having again as we enjoyed them last time ‘Tournedos Rossini’ with finely sliced Green Beans and of course twice cooked Chips. A ‘Chef’s’ pool of ‘Madeira’ sauce on the side.

This weekend on the sports front is rather busy; over in the ‘Premiere League’ Everton welcome Burnley & Manchester City welcome West Ham on Sunday, also on Sunday it’s the Semi-Final match at Wembley as Liverpool play Aston Villa; in ‘La Liga’ today Real Madrid welcome Malaga and Barcelona welcome Valencia. The ‘Grand Prix’ is taking place this weekend in Bahrain and the ‘Motor GP’ is over in Argentina.

We have another lovely day here in sunny Manilva and will go out a little later with ‘Chispa’ for a nice walk in the lunchtime sunshine; while we were out Brenda called into the new Ladies Fashion shop in Calle Iglasia as she ordered some 'pop socks' and came out with a new T-Shirt! Watch out for a 'Helluva' shirt with a dog on it!

This evening after supper we will catch up with all the sport round ups before settling down to find a film to watch.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
