No lie in
for the wicked this morning as the sun was out early and the sky is blue, there
is still a stiff breeze but it’s due to drop later. We freshened ourselves up
and for breakfast we had a little treat of Brenda’s famous ‘Campo’ Poached Eggs
on Toast with mugs of steaming tea! See below
At the
moment the council workmen are getting ready the stage outside the Town Hall at
the top of our street; the formal part of the celebrations start with a parade
by the Manilva Brass Band along Calle Mar and then the rising of the Andalucia
Flag along with the singing of the Andalucia Anthem by the Village Choir and
then of course some speeches by the new Mayor Diego Urieta Jimenez to mark the
referendum in 1980 when the autonomous region of Andalucia was born!! See the
pictures above later.

The rest of
the celebrations that take place all day and this evening are not now moving
down to the Congress Centre by the sports complex. They are all taking place in
Calla Mar with an extra stage!
Now today
is also another rather special day as its “Global Scouse Day” which when all
true ‘Scousers’ remember their place of birth ( Walton Hospital 24/09/1945!) –
70 years ago this year!! It’s going to be a ‘Helluva’ celebration!! We are
having our ‘Scouse’ made to my Mum’s recipe next Wednesday for supper.
Speaking of
celebrations, we are preparing to welcome back the ‘Queen of Skelton’ with her
consort on Sunday March 29th – they are arriving at Gibraltar Airport on an official ‘State’ visit where
the official ‘Red Limousine’ will be waiting to pick then up.
It’s going
to be a very busy time for them as in the first week it’s the ‘Semana Santa’
processions here in the village, over in Estepona as it happens, on Saturday 28th
March the new ‘ Botanical Gardens & Orchid House’ is due to open and also
the new 600 seat ‘Felipe VI’ Theater is also opening around then!! Back here in
sunny Manilva all her very loyal citizens have planned various activities and a
welcome ‘Banquet’ is in the planning stages! Watch this space.
On Thursday
evening we watched on ‘TVE 2’ live coverage of the 2015 “ Drag Queen Carnival
‘Las Palmas’ from Grand Canaria which in hosted by Roberto Herrera &
Antonia San Juan in true Carnival style – see some picture below of the Drag
Queen stars performing!

This
evening for our supper we are having ‘Entrecote Steak’ cooked on the hot
griddle plate ‘Med-Rare’ with all the usual trimmings before settling down to
catch up with the news, sport and weather details; here in ‘La Liga’ Barcelona
travel to Grenada and tomorrow Real Madrid welcome Villarreal, over in
the ‘Premiere League’ on Sunday its Liverpool v Manchester City and Everton
travel down to London to play Arsenal.
Tomorrow in
the ‘Six Nations Rugby’ England travel to Dublin to play Ireland in what could decide who wins the
championship, watch out for ‘Jonny’ Sexton and a 6ft 11ins player for Ireland !!
