A VERY BRISK AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 22nd/ FEBRUARY 2015

.

We all had a nice lie in this morning before ‘Scruffy’ asked to be taken out for his first walk of the day; he’s such a lovely dog to have here in ‘Doggy World Heaven’as he’s no problem, he is a real character and so loving, he eats well and gets on with ‘Chispa’ and ‘Reina’ when they are here.At lunchtime we went for a walk with 'Scruffy' & 'Chispa' along Calle Mar where today there is a Bouncy Castle for the children.

He sleeps in his little house during the night but does love to be on the foot of the bed across our feet from time to time, which is not a problem as even then he settles in the best place as so as to not disturb us! He is being picked up this evening now as Adrian’ shift has changed and is back with us on Tuesday for a sleep over and then all day on Wednesday.

Later this morning I’m getting ready this evenings supper “Medalaillon’s of Pork Fillet with Charcutiere sauce” which we are having with a 'Bouquetiere' of Vegetables - the 'Vegetable Chef' has excelled herself as you can see below.

I’m also making ‘Rissole’ potatoes as we have some rather nice Baby New Potatoes in their skins which we will boil and then toss them in foaming Butter with lots of chopped parsley. The sauce is made with a Red Wine reduction (sorry Brenda!) along with sliced Onions & Gherkins, Vinegar and Mustard paste,a rich Beef & Vegetable stock and then seasoned to taste.

This means that tomorrow night we are having for our supper “Pork Schnitzels’ with ‘Spaghetti Milanaise’ as the Pork fillet is very large! At lunchtime today, as Bar Rojas is closed, we are having the Spanish version of a ‘Fry-up’ which is called “Salteados” It comes in all sorts of different recipes using all sorts of ingredients from steak,fish.Mushrooms etc. I’m using Chorizo,Patata( Potato),Verduras Asadas( Mixed Vegetables) &  assorted peppers and then at the end I’m cracking ‘Huevos Rotos’(two Campo Eggs) into the mixture to cook – ‘Brunch’ Spanish style! See the picture below.The fresh Orange juice is made with Oranges from our neighbours Campo!  On the menus next week we have Gammon steak, Chicken wings and Burgers!!

In the football yesterday City won 5-0 against Newcastle but the surprise of the day was when lowly Malaga beat Barcelona 0-1 at the ‘Nou Camp Stadium’- Real play today and over in England Everton & Liverpool are also in action.

At the moment Brenda is grabbing a quick shower and then after getting supper ready I’m jumping under the shower also; the weather today, at the moment, is sunny with clear blue skies but a little ‘Brisk’ to say the least as a sharp breeze has come in off the Atlantic! The start of next week is a lot better with it getting a little warmer as the week goes on.

The National and Regional elections are starting to heat up, the ‘Andalusian’ one which has been called early on March 22nd by the Regional President as she is pregnant for the first time! Her coalition government with other parties also broken down at the same time.!

Here in sunny Manilva the rumors have started as to who is able to stand to be voted, the various smaller parties have chosen their new candidates and the Deputy Mayor,Emillo,who is also the village Doctor, has re-launched his own party the ‘ASM’and has a new grand office at the entrance to the village in what was once a housing sales office!

He has at present two seats on the council and forms a coalition with the eight seats of the old ‘IU’party of the ex Mayor and his arch rival Antonia, Diego the new Mayor and our local councilor Mario have yet to publish their manifesto?! Over this weekend Emillo has published his and for the first time he has published one in English – see below. Watch this space, it could get very interesting here in sunny Manilva – we have the vote in the elections locally!!

Thoughts for the Day;See above.
