A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 28th/ MARCH 2015.

We awoke this morning to a brilliant Red sky sunrise over sunny Manilva and the Mediterranean at the start of what promises to be a ‘Helluva’ week ahead!

 No rest for the wicked this morning as I’m typing the Blog early so as I can watch later on the large PC ‘Saturday Kitchen Live’ – before I’m going down to our butchers in the village for the Beef & Pork Mince for tomorrow evenings ‘Cottage Pie’

I’ve just come back from ‘Calle Iglasia’ were the workmen are desperately trying to get the lower part of the street to the church finished in time for tomorrows ‘Palm Sunday’ procession. A big surprise is that the Council have lined the walls of all the houses with dark Blue plants pots in the style of ‘Estepona’ – I asked the old Mayor, Antonia, if it was possible over a year ago – result! Now I’ve got to get them to do ‘Calle San Vicente’ with dark Green Plant Pots to match ours as well as the rest of the streets!!  Watch this space.

Well as you can see the street is finished in time and is being washed down at the moment,down at the church they are preparing the 'Tableau's' and the church for tomorrow - see the pictures above including the new wall pots and below of the bottom of Calla Iglasia.

The forecast has now settled down for the weekend and next weeks ‘Semana Santa’ celebrations, it’s getting hotter today 26/27degs and even warmer next week! At the moment it’s already very hot – shirt sleeve weather!!

It looks like Den & Josie are coming over at just the right time, weather wise, as well as culturally, as over in Malaga they have just opened the ‘Coleccion del Museo Ruse’ in the ‘Tabacalera’ building as five centuries of Russian art from the Museum of Saint Petersburg - ‘Comes South’!

Also today it’s the official opening of the ‘Centro Pompidou Malaga’ – the glass cube has all four of its facades coved in a series of laminated coloured sheets by the French artist Daniel Buren – the first exhibitions are by the Catalan painter Joan Miro and the theme of dance. Pablo Picasso,Fria Kahlo,Renee Margritte. Alberto Giacometti and Marc Chagal are to follow!! No doubt the ‘Royal Couple’ will be taking in all this and more when they go on their official ‘State’ tour in two weeks time!

Enough culture for now; on the sports scene this weekend its the second ‘Grand Prix’ of the season over in Malaya and the start of the ‘Motor GP’ under the floodlights in Qatar; last night in the ‘European Championship’ Qualifying matches Spain won 1-0 and England won 4-0 – over the weekend little lowly Gibraltar travel to Scotland for their first ‘Interntional’game ever! Then on Tuesday in ‘ International Friendlies’ England are in Italy and Spain in Holland.

‘Chispa’ has just arrived and at lunchtime ‘Scruffy’ is due for the day, he’s being picked up this later this evening so Brenda is looking after him in the early evening as I’m going down to Sabinillas to the official opening of the new ‘Sports Complex’ as the invited guest of the Mayor, Diego ( Plant Pots)?  See the pictures later.

So this evening for supper we are having ‘Entrecote Steaks’ cooked ‘Med-Rare’ with sautéed Mushrooms and Shallots, finely sliced Green Beans and of course some twice-cooked ‘Frits’

After the football last night we watched a very good Ridley Scott film about the 12th century crusades and the fight for Jerusalem – over 1000 year later and nothing has changed! “ Kingdom of Heaven” from 2005 with one ‘Helluva’ cast – Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, Liam Neeson.Brendan Gleeson, Edward Norton, Ghassan Masoud and Martoncs Okis – to name just a few! Breathtaking to say the least!

PS; The clocks go forward one hour tonight - not Brenda's favourite!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
