No lie in
this morning, for the wicked, as ‘Reina’ was due early for the day; as usual
she shot upstairs to her duvet and is still on it in the office, now, as I’m
typing the Blog. After breakfast we tried to make contact with Jack & Lyn
over in Melbourne, we call them first on the phone and ask them to go online
with Skype, sadly their Skype is not connecting at the moment, they have had
problems with it and so far no luck on getting back online; so Brenda called
Lyn back on the house phone and had a good old fashioned phone call ‘Sister to
Sister’!
The weather
today is clear and crisp with a blue sky but the sun has not broken through
just yet, the temperatures are rising to 21 degs today and higher by the
weekend, just in time for the ‘State Visit’ starting on Sunday! The forecast
for next week’s ‘Semana Santa’ is very good, for a change, as it’s normally
cold and damp for the week of the religious processions.
This week
over in Estepona it’s all happening as on Monday the new 600 seat theater
opened with a concert by the Malaga ‘Conservatoire’ Orchestra and then on this
Saturday the new and spectacular ‘Orchid House’ is opening; at the same time a
new school is ready to open, a very large up market housing development has just
started and the big project of a grand Hotel, leisure complex, parks/parking etc
& boulevard in the centre of the town is also ready to start some time
later this year, its all happening in Estepona!
All this
along with the improvements in the old streets with the flowers pots and
planting and not forgetting the large wall murals on lots of the buildings
around the town, along the front they have also extend the coastal
path/walkway, finally the area around the Light House has be re-fashioned!!
We have
just had our showers and sorted ourselves out for the next few busy days
starting with tonight’s open forum meeting of the ‘Compromiso Manilva’ party in
its new office in Calle Mar, we are going along to show our faces and ask a
couple of questions, see below, then on Friday we are out on our regular shopping
expedition!
It was a very good turn out,in fact 'Antonio's old supermarket was so full that people were outside,including me ! See the pictures above;

As the
opening of the new ‘Sports Hall & Complex’ is now on Saturday evening I’m
going down but Brenda is looking after ‘Scruffy’ back at the house as he’s with
us for the weekend until Sunday evening, not forgetting that the executive ‘Red
Limousine’ is collecting the Royal couple on Sunday evening from the airport
down the coast in Gibraltar for the start of the ‘Queen of Skelton’s’ first
official state visit this year!
PS; We also loose an hour on Sunday when the clocks go forward!!
At lunchtime we went for a walk with 'Reina' as 'Chispa' had not arrived,she came along later for her 'lunch, we went to see a exhibition about 'Semana Santa' over the past years,but we can't find where it is?! Watch this space.The stone work on the 'Roman urn' is nearly complete,as you can see below;

The menus
have been agreed with the ‘Assistant Chef’ – this evening we are having the
rest of the Chicken Curry with rice and Chips, tomorrow evening for our ‘Fish
Supper’ it’s the classic ‘Hake Fillets in Duglere’ sauce, Saturday is of course
‘Entrecote Steak’ with all the trimmings and then on Sunday for a change I’m
making my version/recipe of ‘Cottage Pie’ using fresh Beef & Pork Mince
from our local butcher topped with Brenda’s famous Mashed Potato!
This
evening after supper we will watch the International Football as Spain are
playing along with many other national team’s, so there is no league football
this week over here and in England.
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
