A CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY THE 13TH AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 13th/MARCH 2015 !!

We were up early this morning and after a quick breakfast we shot out on our travels; our first stop was at the surgery to make an appointment for me to have some blood/urine tests ready for my six month ‘Prostrate’ check up in the beginning of April.

As we drove down through the vine fields the Mediterranean was glistening in the early morning sunshine, there is a stiff breeze today that has blown in off the Atlantic so it’s a little cooler,21degs but then getting warmer over the weekend and into the start of next week.

We called into the English bookshop for the papers and then did our main shop in ‘Mercadona’ before shooting along the coast road to Sotogrande to ‘Iceland’ in ‘Pueble Nuevo Guadiario’ – where we picked up all sorts of English goodies!

On getting back up to the house we unpacked and I checked the cars oil & water ready for any surprise trips out. For our ‘Fish Supper’ this evening we are having again, as we enjoyed it last time, a ‘Seafood Risotto’ with Saffron Rice & finely diced Peppers & Peas, Prawns & Gambas,Mussells & Cockles, Octopus & Bacalao( Cod) pieces.- I’m using a rich fish stock and a little White Wine.See below;

This afternoon ‘I will be watching the ‘Cheltenham Festival’ as it’s the ‘Gold Cup’ – the high light of the jump racing season.

This evening after supper we will watch another episode of the ‘Sky Arts Portrait Painter of the Year’ on Gibraltar TV – ‘GBC’

NEWSFLASH; BOOK LAUNCH “ FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY & LIGHTING ” BY MALCOLM SEXTON.

A new and exciting book has been announced and launched today showing the ‘Gourmet’ Dishes on offer at ‘Casa de Sexton’ in sunny Manilva. The author enlisted the help of a small family run publishing & editing ( Apostrophe !)  company from up north over in England “ D & J Skelton Publishing Company Inc ” See below the book sleeve design;

The author is going on a world wide launch, with his wife & very able assistant Brenda, staying at the finest hotels, and dining out at exceptional gourmet international restaurants in preparation for his forthcoming third book later in the year. At the same time he will be at a bookshop, just around the corner from you, signing copies of the book for his family & friends and adoring public!

And of course they will be appearing on local TV stations in your area along with cookery demotrations at various theater venues around the world. Watch this space for all the details and itinerary.

Watch out for the second book due out in the summer “ SEE AND TASTE CLASSICAL FOOD ” featuring pictures taken with his ‘Sony DSC – H300’camera on its ‘Gourmet Food’ setting and using the recently acquired ‘Velbon’ tripod!

Booking are now being taken for reservations at their ‘Boutique Hotel & Restaurant’ in sunny Manilva for the coming summer season. Book early to avoid disappointment !

PPS; The Mayor 'Diego' has just posted the new sign for his party that he registered yesterday " Compromiso Manilva"  along with his fellow Councilors of the ex' IU' party in time for the elections taking place in May. It's being launched next Friday evening down in a restaurant in Sabinillas  See below;
