TOUE DE FRANCE - SEVENTH STAGE.

SATURDAY 10TH JULY 2010.

Sylvain Chavanel reclaimed the yellow jersey after winning the hilly seventh stage through and up the Jura mountains, which border with Switzerland; Chavanel, who won stage two, left the peloton behind and with the help of his team on the final hill in very hot conditions he was unstoppable up the Cote de Lamoura to Station des Rousses.It is all the more remarkable as just over two months ago in a race over cobblestones he crashed and had a near fatal fractured skull! Sunday’s stage to Morzine – Avoriaz is when all the main contenders take on the French Alps so expect Wiggins,Evans,Armstrong,Schieck and Contador to make a move on the 189km stage.

Sunday 11th july 2010.

Lance Armstrong hopes of winning a record eight Tour de France are finished after he fell twice and was forced off the road down a grassy bank;he lost nearly 12 minutes on the leaders on the first mountain stage.Andy Schleck won the stage,Bradley Wiggins lost some time and even defending champion Alberto Contador could not just keep up with the pace;
The new leader on overall standing,by 20 seconds, is the Australian Cadel Evans,he last held the yellow jersey in 2008 when he held it for four days.
