“ VE DAY 75TH ANNIVERSARY “
As usual on a Friday morning we were awoken
by the sound of the goods delivery men sliding down the new stock, on wooden
pallets, to the shop at the bottom of our street. After freshening up we had
our regular fresh fruit ( sliced Banana) toast and tea to set us up for the
weekend ahead.
This morning as we were listening to the ‘Lockdown
Party ‘ show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ the final ‘
Mystery Voice’ quiz of the week came on, I got it straight away, so my record
is five correct answers this week, it was ‘ Vicki Butler-Henderson’! I also got
the ‘ Music Quiz’ correct at the same time, it was ‘ 10 CC’ with ‘Rubber
Bullets’!! “ RESULT “
We have the most beautiful and glorious
start to the day, down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in a very sunny Manilva,
the sun broke through earlier and the sky is cloudless and bright blue, with no
breeze, so by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach 24/25 degs+ - overnight down to
only 15 degs+ a perfect time to go out for a walk, as Brenda does at this time
each morning, in the over ‘ 70 s slot’ – between 10 00 am- 12 00noon - after ‘masking/gloving’ up, as I’m upstairs in
the office/studio typing/posting today’s Blog!
Sadly from tomorrow it’s all change as the
new ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in, bringing with it patchy clouds and the ‘
Wet-Stuff’ over the weekend and most of next week, as the breeze picks up, even
with on one day a possible thunder storm, at the same time the overall temperatures
will still be hovering in the high ‘ teens ‘- low 20s ( 18/22 degs+) so the
rain will be warm! This is very unseasonable for the time of the year, the
following week is looking very hot & sunny, back up to 25 degs+ Watch this
space.
PS; Just a couple of pictures of last night ' Flower Supermoon '
Meanwhile over in North Wales yesterday evening the 'Rainbow Bridge' named because of its shape, across the motorway, at the entrance to Colwyn Bay, below the 300 ft cliffs, where the 'Hotel Seventy Degrees' used to be, was lit up for the ' NHS' - see below.
At mid-day, here in Spain, 11 00 am over in
the UK, we will be of course be taking part in the one minutes silence to mark
the 75th Anniversary of ‘VE DAY’ made all the more significant as our very dear
friend, Nan Horsely, Jane’s Mum, will be making her final journey as she is
cremated, beyond coincidence at 11 00 am, which would have thoroughly amused
her, with her family not being able to attend, under the restrictions, so they
are planning to have a monumental celebration of her amazing life in July when
she would have been 100. So to the sound
of ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ by Frank Sinatra, and a spray of her favourite perfume ‘
L’Air du Temps’ with her favourite flowering Cactus, we bid farewell, as the
country falls silent. xxxx ‘RIP’
All quiet today after the extension of the
very severe ‘National Lockdown’ here in Spain until the 24th May, as most of the 17 Spanish autonomous
regions/communities are going to request to move to ‘ Phase 1 ‘ on Monday,
allowing businesses and street cafes/bars to partially reopen ( 50% of usual
capacity) – outdoor markets ( 25%) – religious celebrations ( 30% ) and groups
of 10 people or fewer, in the open air or in private residences. Watch this
space.
For our supper this evening we are having,
as it’s Friday, our ‘Fish N’ Chip’ supper
– ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet’ – coated in a light ‘ Tempura Cruzcampo Beer Batter ‘-
shallow fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, accompanied with lots
of Lemon Wedges, with Brenda’s homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce, and ‘ Mushy Green Peas’
– not forgetting the triple-cooked ‘ Chips’
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
