A RATHER GREY & OVERCAST AND NOW WET SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.
No lie in this morning, so after a quick
freshen up we had our regular fresh fruit ( sliced Banana ) toast and tea
before getting today’s roast on the go.
We are having a “ Roast Leg of ‘Spanish’ Lamb “ – studded with
Garlic Cloves & Rosemary, cooked on a bed of assorted Vegetable ‘ Trivets’
with a few ‘ Roast Potatoes’ – as you can see below;
I then made, with the help of the ‘ Second
Chef’ ( peeled Potatoes) my now famous ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes – sliced Onions,
with three layers of hand-cut Potato, seasoned and topped up with a rich ‘ Meat
& Vegetable’ stock, ready to go in the oven this evening.
See below;
See below;
Meanwhile the ‘ Second/Vegetable Chef’ was preparing
‘Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce, Crushed Carrot
& Turnips, Creamed Braised Baby Leeks, Wilted Alcelgas & Garden Peas’
Finally I made my famous ‘ Finger-Licking’
Pan Gravy, using the roasting juices, with a flour ‘ Roux’ – a rich Meat &
Vegetable’ stock, before adjusting the seasoning to taste, then a dash of ‘
Crosse & Blackwell’s Gravy Browning’ for the colour!
As forecast, it’s still rather grey &
overcast, as the clouds are still hanging around, despite a light breeze, only
reaching 23 degs+ - overnight down to 17 degs+ - with the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ in the
air, the area is on ‘ Yellow Alert’ later, watch this space.
Next week is looking a little more settled,
staying partly cloudy, with light breezes all week, going a little warmer on
Tuesday/Wednesday – 26/27 degs+ hovering in the mid 20s mainly, with warm
sunshine, then sadly towards next weekend we could have more of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’
returning, very unseasonal for the time of the year – ‘June’! The following week is now looking dry, very
warm & sunny!! Watch this space.
Yesterday evening, before our supper we
managed to catch up with Leah, on the ‘Facebook’ video, for a good catch up
with all her news after the first week in her new apartment in Gibraltar, she
& her son Deemy are loving it, he has made friends locally and registered
for school, she has a five minute walk into work, and little ‘ Miss Bella’ is
now an official resident of Gibraltar, after being registered, tested, her ‘DNA’
taken & jabs etc for Rabies! She is now ‘ Blue Badged’ and they can take
her out for walks, on the lead, without being arrested!
“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “
The main news today is that the ‘Prime
Minister’ – Pedro Sanchez – has secured support for his ‘ Majority National
Government’ – next Wednesday, in the ‘ Congress-Parliament’ up in Madrid, for
the sixth and final extension to the ‘ State of Alarm’ – which will then expire
on June 21st!
This evening after supper we will settle
down to watch the very exciting & gripping ‘Killing Eve’ as series 3 is coming to an end
( 2 more episodes?) Watch this space.
Last night the late film was “ Live Free or
Die Hard “ or “ Die Hard 4 “! With Bruce Willis as Detective John McClane, the
New York cop, facing the ‘ Baddis’ as usual, up to his eyes in bullets etc!

A NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.
We overslept this morning, it was only the
sound of the ‘ Council’ Cleaning Department – coming down our street spraying
all the doors & windows etc – with the sanitizing equipment that brought us
back into the land of the living!
After showering and freshening up, as
Brenda was on the breakfast rota, as usual, on a Saturday morning, it was time
for her perfect ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, with mugs of hot/strong Tea, at
the start of another weekend in ‘ LOCKDOWN’
This morning the sun has just broken
through and the clouds are slowly clearing, as there is still a stiff breeze,
the blue sky is now showing, so by lunchtime it’s forecast to only reach 23/24
degs+ - overnight down to 18/19 degs+ - tomorrow on the forecasts it’s even
showing some of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’?!
Next week, as we enter June, we are in for
a warmer/hotter time, as the breeze drops, with lots of sunshine, with just a
few patchy clouds hanging around at times, hovering in the mid/high 20s, watch
this space.
Today Sandra & Bill are heading up to
Hope Bay for a long weekend, working on the new decking and garden, around the
trailer, as usual in Canada, the fine weather comes very quickly, one day cool,
the next hot, at the moment they are in the ‘ Green’ mode, Sandra’s favourite,
as you can see, below, in her garden/back yard of their house in Everett, Ontario,
Canada.
“ CORANVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “
No news to update today; See below some of
the ‘ Phase 2’ rules, sorry in Spanish, as it would not translate in my system,
which comes into law this Monday 1st June!
For our supper this evening we are having a
slice of ‘Spanish Beef’ – ‘Flashed-Cooked’ on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Rare ‘
– then left to rest – carved into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with
seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, accompanied with the classic ‘Bearnaise’
sauce & Dijon Mustard, served with whole baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and of
course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’
On Sunday we are roasting; a ‘Spanish Leg
of Lamb ‘ – studded with Garlic & Rosemary,
resting on a bed of my special and now famous ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes,
with Roast Potatoes and a large selection of fresh/local Vegetables, not forgetting
my ‘ Deep Pan Gravy ‘!
