A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 27th/ APRIL 2019.

We had a nice long lie in this morning as the village was even quieter than normal, after freshening up, as Brenda was on the breakfast rota,  I had her ‘ World’ famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Boiled for her with Toast fingers, with on the side mugs of strong/hot tea!

The sun broke through earlier and the sky has cleared and is bright blue, there is a light ‘Lavante’ breeze blowing, keeping it ‘ crisp’ in the shade, by lunchtime it will reach 21 degs+ - hovering overnight on the 13/14 degs mark, tomorrow is the same, next week is now looking dry & settled, with sunshine most of the time, with patchy clouds, hovering in the low to mid 20s, going a little warmer by next weekend, the following week is looking even hotter, watch this space.

On the sports front this weekend; over in the ‘ Premiere League’ last night Liverpool beat Huddersfield 5-0 and are top of the League, again, today Everton travel down the ‘M1’ to play Crystal Palace, tomorrow Manchester City have the short journey to play Burnley, in ‘La Liga’ Barcelona are at home to Levante & Real Madrid travel to Rayo Vallecano.

The qualifying for the ‘Grand Prix of Azerbaijan’ is this afternoon, we will also be watching the final day of the ‘ National Hunt Racing’ season from  Sandown Park.

Yesterday evening we had a nice ‘Tapas’ supper along at ‘ Bar Castillo’ – small ‘ chunks’ of ‘ Bacalao’ – Cod – in a light ‘ Tampura Batter’ with lots of fine ‘ Frits’ & Mayonnaise!

We then made our way down to the ‘ Casa de los Torres’ Cultural Centre for the late evening Jazz ‘Fusion’ Concert by the ‘ Trombone 4 Music ‘ Quintet,  led by Alejandro AntiƱolo, the son of Fernando, the ‘Head of the Scholl of Music’ - playing and improvising on the Trombone, a ‘Maniac’ Flutiste, a ‘Wild’ Electric Piano/Organist, a ‘ Thumping’ Electric Bass player and a ‘Laid-Back’ Drummer!

See below;

This evening for our supper we are having a large ‘Grilled Rib of Beef – on the Bone’ ( Chuleton de Buey ) – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, before carving it ‘ French’ style into fingers, garnished with seared Button Mushrooms, Baby Shallots & Spears of Asparagus, served with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce, with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans & twice-cooked ‘ Pont Neuf’ Frits ( the granddaddy of French Fries!)

For our ‘Sunday Roast’ we are now having a ‘Roast Loin of Pork ‘ with a savoury Mixed Herb Stuffing & Glazed ‘ Fuji’ Apple slices and my famous ‘ finger-licking’ Pan Gravy, not forgetting the ‘ Goose-Fat Roast Potatoes’ and a large selection of fresh, local Vegetables from the ‘ Vegetables Chef’!

This evening after supper we will be catching the next back to back episodes of the ‘Danish’ crime/drug drama ‘ Follow the Money ‘ – then later channel hopping.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
