We had a nice, long, lie in this morning
after a week of early starts, we then slowly freshened up and had our regular
Saturday morning breakfast of Brenda’s famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast,
Boiled with Toast fingers for her, with mugs of strong/hot ‘PG’ Tips Tea.
This morning has started a little cooler,
as overnight the breeze picked up, the sun is now breaking through and sky is clearing,
by lunchtime it’s still due to reach 20 degs+ - but still ‘ Fresh’ in the shade, overnight
down to 10 degs and then colder again later next week, tomorrow it’s going to be the same and a
little warmer, next week has started to change as the breeze picks up to a stiff
wind, bringing in with it a cold ‘Atlantic’ front by next Wednesday, back down
to 15 degs with the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ back in the air, it’s then going
to settle down again and by the following weekend it will be dry & sunny,
hovering in the mid ‘teens’ - watch this space.
Yesterday up in Northern France our dear
friends and old customers, Terry & Alma, were out in Avranches, celebrating
their ‘ 60th Wedding Anniversary’ – “ Feliz Aniversario de Bodas “
For our supper this evening we are having ‘
Grilled Fillet Steaks ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – Pink no
Blood, then left to rest, garnished with Seared Asparagus Spears & Button
Mushrooms with ‘Deep-Fried Onion Rings’ in ‘Cruzcampo’ Beer Batter! Served with
Dijon French Mustard & Bearnasie Sauce, and accompanied with Whole French
Baby Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’
On the sports front this weekend; over in
the ‘ Premier League’ Manchester City have the long journey down to play Bournemouth,
then tomorrow it’s the ‘ Derby Game ‘ as Everton welcome Liverpool, just a very
short journey of 1 mile across Stanley Park.
Meanwhile over here in ‘ La Liga’ it’s
another ‘ Derby Game’ as Real Madrid welcome Barcelona, for the second time
this week! There is no ‘ Guinness Six Nations Rugby Union’ this weekend as all
the teams recuperate after last weekend’s ‘ Bashing’! The ‘National Hunt Jump Racing’
racing today comes from Doncaster, Newbury & Kelso, then the week after
next it’s the ‘ Cheltenham Festival’
Last night after supper we settled down to
watch an episode of the excellent ‘Vera’ – sadly the ‘ IPTV’ system crashed
near the end, so we missed ‘who did it’?!
This evening we will settle down to watch the next episode of the Icelandic (with
sub-titles) thriller “ Trapped “ – fingers crossed!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
