We managed another nice lie in this morning
to make up for the hour lost after the clocks went forward. We then freshened up
and had a quick toast & tea before getting today’s supper on the go.
Yesterday evening the ‘ wet-stuff’ finally
hit us, after nearly six months of no rain, it was not heavy and didn’t last
very long, this morning the breeze has also dropped and the blue sky is showing
with patchy clouds, at the moment it’s staying dry, but the threat of the ‘wet-stuff’
returning is still in the air, only reaching 18 degs by lunchtime, overnight
down to 12 degs, next week is looking like we are in for more of the same, hovering
in the high ‘ teens’ – reaching 21 degs by mid-week, with the chance of the sun
breaking through, patchy clouds and moderate to heavy rain possible, the
following week is not looking much better, watch this space.
For our ‘ Mothering Sunday ‘ roast we are
having a rolled “ Roast Aged Sirloin of
Beef “ with Yorkshire Pudding, the joint was seasoned with ‘Sea Salt’ and placed
on a bed of Trivets, in a very hot-oven, basted once and then when ‘ Med-Rare –
Pink no blood’ - it was taken out and left to rest, the ‘ Vegetable Chef’
meanwhile was preparing Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets ( Plain) Glazed Chunky
Carrots & Turnips, Whole Green Beans, Braised Onion and Garden Peas, at the
same time she par-boiled the Potatoes ( sliced in half) before I tossed them in
the ‘Hot Goose Fat’ ready to go in the hot oven this evening, I then made my
now famous, finger-licking ‘ Deep Pan Gravy’ using a rich Vegetable & Beef
Stock, the aromas are wafting upstairs as I’m typing/posting today’s Blog.
Just a very quick update on yesterdays
football results; Manchester City won 0-2 and Everton also won 0-2, Barcelona
won 2-0.
Sandra has just sent Brenda a very special ' Mother's Day' message from Everett, Ontario, Canada, very many thanks and lots of love xxxx
Yesterday evening as we were just about to
cook our supper we had a 30 minute power cut, then later more short cuts,
meaning that we missed the end of the film that we were watching, as it takes
some time to re-set the ‘IPTV’ system! I’m keeping my ‘ Finger-Crossed’ ( only
the right hand at the moment!) that it
stays on later this evening for the first episode of the excellent and gripping
return of “ Line of Duty “ Watch this space.
As Brenda was ‘ proof-reading’ – as usual -
today’s Blog, we were listening to the ‘Pete Blacks Retro Road Show ‘ on ‘
Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ –he gave us a nice mention and
played a ‘Helluva’ Joe Bonamassa track, that we danced too, I had sent in ‘Lady’
Brenda’s answer to the ‘ Movie Quiz ‘ – it was “ Frankenstein “ ‘It’s Alive ‘
from 1931! She’ in the monthly draw for
the Mug! Watch this space.
PS; Sadly it's going to have to be next month!
