A NOW CLEAR ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 23rd / MARCH 2019.

We managed another nice lie in this morning after a late night watching a good film, more later. After freshening up we had a quick toast & tea before getting the ‘ Sunday Roast ‘on the go.

A ‘Roast Lemon Chicken ‘ with a savoury ‘Mixed Herb’ Stuffing, I take off the Legs, Thighs & Wings to leave the ‘ Crown of Chicken’ – which are all seasoned with Sea Salt and lots of Lemon Juice, I then place the Chicken on a bed of ‘ Trivets’ to roast, basting all the time, the resident ‘Vegetable Chef’ was meanwhile preparing Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three cheese sauce, Crushed Carrots & Turnips, Braised Leeks in a cream sauce & Garden Peas, the ‘Chunky’ cut potatoes were par-boiled, shaken and dropped into the hot ‘Goose-Fat’ ready to go in the over this evening, after the ‘ Roast’ came out of the oven I made my famous finger-licking ‘Deep Pan Gravy’ in the roasting tray, using the left-over juices, a little plain four and a rich Chicken & Vegetables stock, with some of the Vegetable water, seasoned to taste and coloured with ‘Crosse & Blackwell Gravy Browning’!

See below the ‘ Roast Lemon Chicken ‘ as it came out of the oven.

This morning started grey, cold and overcast with a stiff breeze blowing, by lunchtime it’s cleared and the sun has broken through and the sky is clearing, the breeze has dropped a little, by this afternoon it will reach 16/17 degs+ on Monday we could be in for more of the same before the breeze gets up again bringing with it the ‘wet-stuff’ which in the air, all the time, the rest of the week and over next weekend, when the clocks go forward, we are in for a prolonged wet-spell, with patchy clouds, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ and lots of ‘ RAIN’!  Watch this space.

Yesterday evening we first caught ‘Great Canal Journeys’ with Timothy West & Prunella Scales as they explored the ‘ Naviglio Grande Canal’ – which starts at the southern end of ‘Lago Maggiore’ and arrives in Milan, it was used to take the  ‘ Candoglia’ Marble for the ‘Duomo’ Cathedral, which took over six centuries to complete, with it’s 135 spires!

We then watched an ‘Icelandic’ mystery horror movie’ before finding the late film on ‘Channel Four’ – “ The Take “ ( Bastille Day )  from 2016, with Idris Elba ( Luther ) as a rogue ‘CIA’ agent who forms an unlikely partnership with pickpocket Richard Madden ( The Bodyguard ) – all action with car chases, lots of shooting & stabbings as well as fights, as the ‘ Baddies’ who are actually the ‘Police Rapid Response Team’ who try to rob a Bank on Bastille Day in Paris!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
