We overslept this morning so after taking ‘
Charlie ‘ for his first walk of the day we had to get our skates on in the
kitchen; Matt, Michelle, Hollie & Charlie are joining us later for our ‘
New Years Day Lunch ‘ – “ Roast Leg of ‘South
Island’ New Zealand Lamb “ – marinated in Virgin Olive Oil Rosemary &
studded with Garlic Cloves with a rich ‘ finger licking’ Rosemary Pan Gravy;
the ‘ Vegetable Chef ‘ has prepared Broccoli Florets in a Three Cheese sauce,
Whole Baby Green Beans & Glazed Carrot Batons, Garden Peas & Braised
Leeks in a cream sauce and I’ve made a large dish of my famous ‘ Boulangere
Potatoes ‘ & ‘Turned’ ( Brenda ) Goose Fat Roast Potatoes. Assorted light ‘
Tapas’ to start & a Fresh Fruit Medley for dessert.
To start the New Year it’s dry, crisp and
no breeze, the sky is now blue after a red sunrise, it’s a lovely day here in
sunny Manilva, the rest of the week is looking like more of the same, see the
picture below from Michelle’s balcony of their apartment this morning.
Just a quick sports update; ‘ LIVERPOOL ‘
beat Manchester City 1-0 !
Last night after supper we settled down to
see the ‘New Year’ in twice! First we watched the celebrations from the centre
of Madrid and as the clock struck midnight we ate our 12 grapes on the strokes,
then we turned over to BBC TV to watch ‘ Jools Holland’s Hootenanny ‘ and had a
nice drink to see in the New Year ‘ English’ style, I let the ‘ New Year ‘
later; this year’s ‘ Hootenanny ‘ was the best in a long while, his ‘ Rhythem
& Blues Orchestra ‘ was on top form with Gilson Lavis, the drummer who has
been with Jools for over 45 years, from their early days in ‘ Squeeze’ still
the best ‘session’ drummer playing! Chaka Khan was in fine voice, Roy Wood
brought back the memories, my favourite Christine and the Queens performed the ‘track’
of 2016 ‘ Tilted’ Rag’n’Bone Man has a ‘ Helluva ‘ voice, Gregory Porter sang
the ‘ blues’ ‘ ABC ‘ still had the sound, Seasick Steve had acquired a drummer
and a lady clog dancer! Dr. John Copper Clarke was joined by Hugh Cornwall, the
new ‘ Pararsian ‘ electro band ‘ Caravan Palace ‘ were excellent, Ali Cambell
from UB 40 was joined by his daughter, Ruby Turner sang with ‘ soul’ and the voice
of Imelda May stole the programme with her song ‘ Black Tears ‘
Thoughts for the Day, See above.
