As usual I was up first this morning to
welcome back little ‘Princess Reina’
back with us here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ for the day; she shot upstairs and
went to sleep on her duvet, Brenda got up in her own time and showered, I’m
showering later, we then had our usual breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit,
toast & tea.
I then made this evenings supper “ Lamb
Steak, Mushroom & Vegetable Casserole” – using Spanish ‘ Cordero ‘ Steaks
which I marinated in Olive Oil & Tarragon over night, I then brown them off
on the griddle plate, the sauce is made with diced Onions & Garlic, Leeks, Carrots,
Turnips, Celery, Green Beans & Mushrooms, all sweated off with my secret
ingredients, then Tomato Frito and good strong Chicken & Vegetable Stock is
added before adjusting the seasoning and consistency, I then coat the steaks
with the sauce in the casserole dish ready to go in this oven this evening, Brenda
is making a dish of her famous ‘Mashed Potato’ with finely sliced Green Beans & Baby Brussels Sprouts, for
a change! See below.
The morning started a little overcast but
its picking up and by lunchtime the sun is due to break through, it’s still
warm and sunny and the night are now a little cooler, the rest of week is
staying the same and the weekend is looking calm & warm also, the threatened
rain being blown down from the North by the ‘ Levante’ wind is just missing us
here down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ at the moment, watch this space.
See the
pictures below of this morning’s spectacular ‘Red’ sunrise over Colwyn Bay
& Liverpool, on the BBC TVs ‘Breakfast’ Show they featured more pictures
from around the country!
After supper last night we watched ‘The
Hairy Bikers Chicken and Egg’ – this week they were in the ‘USA’ on ‘Southern
Fried Chicken, Pancakes & Buffalo Wings’- nest week they are going to
Israel. Next it was the excellent programme ‘ Great Continental Railway Journeys’
with Michael Portillo, he travelled from the Swiss Alps to the shores of Lake
Geneva, next week he’s in Morocco.
I did the same rail journey back in 1959
with my Dad & Mum, I still to this day don’t know how my Dad managed to
arrange/plan it! Over ten years from the age of five to fifteen we visited, all
by train, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy
& Yugoslavia!
Finally it was ‘ Later Live... with Jools
Holland, his usual mix of all sorts of music with Barry Gibb singing his latest
version of ‘Jive Talkin’ and Norah Jones, the daughter of the late Ravi Shanker,
the world famous ‘ ‘Sitar’ player, I
first met him when he came to play at the ‘Philharmonic Hall, in Liverpool, as the guest of ‘The Beatles’
and stayed at the ‘ Stork Hotel’ back in the mid 60s! Jools joined Norah Jones as she sang her new
track, he played the ‘ Hammond Organ’ as she was on the piano.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
