We managed another lie in this morning, we
then has our usual breakfast of fresh fruit, toast & tea, before, as every
day, we took our blood pressure’s with the new test kit, next week we are down
at the surgery for our blood tests etc, Brenda on Monday and me on Thursday,
then the following week we are back at the surgery with our Doctor for our six
month check-ups, watch this space. ‘Reina’ is back with us for her regular five
days from Monday to Friday and ' Scruffy' is with us tomorrow evening for a sleep over.
After breakfast I got this evenings supper
on the go, “ Lancashire Hot Pot “ – my version, I brown off the Lamb Steaks
& Cutlets, I then build up the layers with sliced Onions & Potatoes as
well as diced Carrots, Leeks, Celery & Mushrooms, seasoning each level, I
then top up the pot with a strong Vegetable & Meat Stock and seal the lid
ready to go into the oven this evening, near the end I take the lid off &
dot the top layer of potatoes with butter to crisp up! Lots of shredded pickled
‘Red Cabbage’ on the side!
We had another uncomfortable night as it’s
still very hot & clammy, this morning the sun was out early and we are in
for another hot one later, next week is looking hot & sunny but with the
threat of some of the wet stuff in the air.
Just a quick update on the football results
over here; Real Madrid won 5-2 but Barcelona lost 1-2 to the newly promoted
Alaves because the manager ‘put out’ the second team with no stars as he was
saving them for the ‘Champions League’ game on Tuesday against Celtic?! Today
it’s the final stage of the ‘ Vuelta d’Espana’ into and around Madrid, yesterday
in a very exciting mountain top finish Chris Froome could not shake off Nario Quintana,
so he will be the winner of the Race Leaders ‘Red Jersey’ later today.
Last night after supper we settled down to
watch the “ Last Night of the Proms’ from the Royal Albert Hall in London, we
have not seen it for many years, we really enjoyed the concert and sang along
with all the special songs “ Land of
Hope and Glory, Jerusalem, thinking of Norah and the ‘Women’s Institute’ Rule
Britannia, God Save the Queen and Auld Lang Syne “ What
made it rather special was they showed the ‘ Prom in the Park’ from Colwyn Bay,
all our friends from North Wales were in the crowd in’ Eirias Park’ just
around the corner from Tim & Thea’s house!
This morning, at the moment, we are
following on BBC TV the ‘Great North Run’- the largest half Marathon in the
World, it’s around Newcastle Upon Tyne & South Shields, a friend from the
village Ian, Helen’s husband, is running in it with his daughter, I met him the
other day after he had been for a 8 km training run in the early morning before
the sun came up!
I’m also listening to the ‘Pete Black Retro
Road Show’ on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 % Online on the WWW’ and then after it
finishes its the new programme with ‘ Madeline Bell ( ex Blue Mink ) She has
lived down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ for many years, I met her the other
day at the launch of the new Station. See
below.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
