I was awoken by ‘ Charlie’ this morning, at
7-17am, he gently taps you with his paw & gives you the ‘look’ - so I took
him for his first walk of the day, the village was still all in bed, it’s a
local ‘Bank Holiday’ here in sunny Manilva, the Council workmen were just
starting the ‘big’ clean up after the weekends ‘ Vendimia Festival’ I then went
back to bed for a little lie in as ‘Reina’ is not back with us until early
tomorrow morning and for the rest of the week, Brenda was then ‘kidded’ by ‘
Charlie’ as he jumped onto the bed and asked her to be taken out again, she
went for a short walk with him as its helps with her recuperation to walk, as
recommended by our Doctor!
We are in for another very hot & sunny
week, the sun was out first thing this morning and the sky is blue, there is no
breeze and by lunchtime its due to reach the high 30s, its getting hotter as
the week goes on.
This coming weekend our old friends from
Llandudno, Douglas & Lyn, are coming over with some of their friends and are
staying in a grand villa above Malaga, last time they were here Douglas was
taken ill and we did not get to meet up with them, we are looking forward, this
time, to a good catch up & gossip after we arrange to see them, watch this
space.
Today’s menu is simple as we are having the
‘ Scouse’ that I made the other day, with lots of fresh local Beetroot, the
rest of the week it’s still day by day.
We have a ‘no’ appointments in the week
ahead, we are taking things very easy, relaxing and basically doing nothing!
Today Brenda has two large ‘washings’ going on, we are just pottering about
getting back into our routine life here in sunny Manilva, I will go down to
Sabinillas on Friday morning for our weekly shopping, the following week we
have all our Blood tests etc before our major check up’s with our new Doctor
the following week.
Yesterday afternoon after we went up to
Calle Mar to watch the ‘ Andalucian Horse Parade’ - we sat above the street on
the raised walkway, it was a good spot, in the shade, as the parade came along
the street in the opposite direction, as you can see in the pictures below.
Later Lee & Daniela called in with little Princess ‘ Reina’ to see us, she
had on her full chest/collar with a new lead! They have been very nice and
reassuring about the ‘incident on Saturday, many thanks and we are looking forward
to welcoming her back tomorrow morning. The music last night finished earlier
than normal, at 10-00pm, so we were able to get some sleep despite it being
another very hot & sticky night.
This week we will be watching the final
week of the ‘ Vuelta d’Espana’ as it reached Madrid on Sunday, yesterday Chris
Froome lost a lot of time as Nario Quintara broke away, he missed the breakaway,
he was caught out and had no help from his teammates, his only chance now to
get his hands on the race leaders ‘ Red Jersey’ is in the 37km individual Time
Trial later in the week, Quintara is not a good Time Trialist, watch this
space, see the route maps below for today’s stage 16.
This afternoon before our ‘ Happy Hour ‘ we
will be watching all the regular quiz shows that we follow as the programme
schedules get back to normal. This morning as I’ve been typing & posting
the ‘Blog’ I’ve been listening to the new presenters on the ‘ Castle Radio FM
89.2 & Online on the WWW’ as the station relaunches the new programmes,
catch it and watch out and listen for my return shortly! ‘Sir’ Malcolm will be
back!!
We decided to watch the first episode of
the new period drama “ Poldark “ on BBC1
last night instead of ‘ Victoria’ over on ITV1, we used to watch the first
series back in 1975! It’s very good and we are starting to catch up with all the
characters and new story line, Ross Poldark, played by Aidan Turner,& Demelza,
played by Eleanor Tomlinson are both excellent, the setting and filming are
very good, ‘Ross’ is in big trouble already, he’s at the Assizes court in
Bodmin charged with murder etc, his main enemy is plotting his demise, nest
week it’s the trial before a ‘ Hanging Judge’ – the only way he could get off
would be if the jury was all female, watch this space”
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
