A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 27th / JULY 2016.

We managed a nice long lie in this morning as ‘Reina’ was not due until 11-00am, the village is also very quiet as it’s a local Bank Holiday after yesterday’s festivities; we then had ‘ Smoked Bacon Butties ‘ with mugs of steaming tea to get us back on the straight and narrow!

Our next door neighbour, Ana, is having her house painted this morning so I ‘ve asked the painters to ‘make good’ the walls of our house where the electricians, from the builders next door, damaged our walls when they were re-wiring the other week, they are going to see too it later – RESULT!

Its going to be a hot one today, the sun was out first thing and there is no breeze, its already in the high 30s with more to come by lunchtime, the rest of the week and over the weekend is also going to get hotter, see the pictures below of the sunrise over the ‘ Mediterranean ‘ further along the coast and the Albert Dock in Liverpool with the ' old & new '

Last night we went up to Calle Mar and got good seats outside ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ in the shade by the wall, the best seats in the house, we then settled down to watch the Religious Procession for the ‘ Verbana Santa Ana’ led by the village Brass Band, the only problem was that it was, as normal, late arriving from the church, so we decided to stay there and have some ‘ Tapas ‘ instead of going home for supper and then coming back out later, we saw lots of our local friends, they came and talked to us but by then there were no other seats available, the village was full and all the bars were doing a roaring business.

The procession goes along Calle Mar and then turns around and comes back, its led by the Brass Band followed by the ‘ Feria Queens’- following behind are all the Civic Dignitaries including the Mayor, the village Padre, the Chief of Police and the Master of the Brotherhood, the older Councillors from the previous Council etc, all followed by the village dressed in their finery. Before the Tableau goes back down to the church its raised above their heads and confetti bombs are let off as the whole village applauds, its a truly village festival, carrying the  'Tableau' was our garage man Pedro, Lumy's son Diego, Mario's son Mario, in the band was Mario's other son Pablo, our neighbour Marta and the Mayor's daughter, The two bands, later, were very good, the best one was on the far stage, the music goes on until 4-00 am! See all the pictures above.

So for our supper this evening we are having what we were going to have last night ‘ Escalope’s Of Chicken Breast ‘ pan-fried in foaming Lemon Butter with Balsamic Vinegar, with finely sliced Green Beans & dry-sauteed, thick-cut slices of Baked Potato.

We will then channel hop to find something to watch after catching up with all the Quiz programmes that we follow.

Thoughts for the Day, See above.
