I
was up early again this morning to welcome back ‘ Reina’ for the day, as
I was waiting for her to arrive I watched, on ‘ TVE1 ‘- the start of the ‘
Festival San Fermin’ in Pamplona, on the first day of the running of the bulls;
it is started by letting off a rocket, at 8-00 am, after the singing of the ‘
Benediction’ in Spanish & Basque, and then releasing the six bulls and six
oxen through the streets, only four casualties and a fast time over the 957
yard run, the bulls came from a famous ranch here in Andalucia, for the next 7
days, every morning it takes place as the ‘ Encierro’s ‘ in their White tops
& trousers with a Red waistband ( Faja ) & Red neckerchief ( Panuelo ) with
a rolled up newspaper in their hands, place their fate in the hands of the ‘
Gods’!
We are having a nice easy at home day
taking things as they come, after breakfast Brenda is shampooing her hair &
showering, then it’s me later; the ‘Executive
Head Chef ‘ has been given the night off so he’s going out with his very able
assistant for a light ‘ Tapas’ supper up at’ Bar Castillo’
At the moment there is thunder &
lightening all around us and the sky is black, hopefully it will hit us soon
and pass on up ‘ North ‘! Its still very warm, 30 degs, so the rain should be
warm! Fingers crossed that its all gone by this evening?! Over the weekend its
getting back to normal and next week is now looking very hot & sunny down
here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ See the Black Clouds over us this morning!
Later today Jack & Lyn are due to fly back to Melbourne from Manchester, they have been staying at Norah's and have been out and about in the area around Runcorn, they went over to see Jenny and had supper with her, Brenda has had a good chat on the phone and we are ringing them before they leave to wish them a safe and relaxing journey home, good health and happiness, lots of love from us here in sunny Manilva xxxx
Yesterday afternoon/early evening the
Tennis from Wimbledon was very exciting, first on the ‘ Centre Court ‘ it was
Roger Federer v Marin Cilic, Federer went two sets down and was nearly out in
the third when he made a remarkable come back and won the next three sets to go
in the Semi-Finals, after nearly four hours of gripping tennis, then next on
court it was Andy Murray v Tsonga, Murray went up two sets and nearly won in
the third before Tsonga fought back and won two sets, in the fifth set Andy
Murray just got better and with the help of the crowd roaring him on won, over
four hours also!
We all needed a brake but the kick-off in
the Wales v Portugal match down in Lyon had already taken place, sadly Wales
lost 0-2 but gave their best and played with ‘heart’ and were given a standing
ovation at the end by all their supporters/fans
in Lyon and all across Wales as they watched on various large screen in parks
etc. This evening in the second Semi-Final it’s Germany v France. The ‘ Final ‘
is on Sunday, watch this space.
Today’s Stage 6 of the ‘ Tour De France ‘
is from ‘Arpajon-Sur-Cere ‘ to ‘ Montauban’ over another hilly 190 kms with a
flat finish, it could be a stage for ‘ Escapees’ or a bunch sprint finish, see
the route map below, watch this space.
Well it was a sprint finish and guess who won ?! The " Manx Missile " - ' Mark Cavendish ' It's his 29th 'Tour' win and his third in this years ' Tour ' - he slip-streamed the big German ' Marcel Kittle' and then shot past him, again, to win!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
