I was up as usual first this morning to see
‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, ‘ Chispa’ came calling at the same time, after freshening up we had
breakfast, ‘ Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties ‘ with mugs of steaming tea, I then
went along to the ‘ Tabac’s’ to top up our Mobile Phones, they are ‘ Pay As You
Go ‘ and we get a 50% bonus when we charge then up!
This morning its very close & sticky,
its still very warm and there is just a small breeze making it a bit more
comfortable, yesterday afternoon it reached 41 degs+ and we made the National Weather
News! In the evening it was still 37/38 degs at 9-00 pm, overnight was the
hottest so far, it hovered on the 31 degs mark! A long and ‘ sticky’ night
followed! Today is going to be a little cooler, tomorrow is staying the same
but on Friday its going hotter in time for the weekend. Some friends from North
Wales are in Llangollen this morning sat besides the River Dee, as you can see
in the pictures below.
This evening for our supper we are having ‘
Grilled Cumberland Sausages’ with Crispy Smoked Bacon & sautéed Baby
Mushrooms, Garden Peas & Baked Potatoes, on the side a sauceboat of my ‘
Charcutiere Sauce ‘ – on Thursday evening its the ‘ Chef’s Night Off ‘ so we
are going along to Bar Castillo’ for a ‘ Tapas’ supper before we go down to the
Cultural Centre ‘ Casa Del Torres’ to watch the ‘ Tango Concert ‘
Today’s ‘ Stage 11 ‘ of the “ Tour De
France “ is from Carcassonne to Montpellier’ over 162 kms, as you can see in the route map below, its
going to be a sprint finish but it depends on how the main sprinters are
feeling after the mountain stages in the ‘ Pyrenees ‘ as too who wins, watch this
space.
In a surprise move with 15 kms to go the World Champion Peter Sagan broke away and Chris Froome with his fellow rider Geraint Thomas joined him, the rest of the contenders and sprinters were left behind, much to their surprise, Sagan won and Froome was second and made more time in the general classification, he made the move after being told over the team radio that tomorrows classic stage has been cut short, due to high winds & snow, it will now finish several kilometres down the mountain ' Mont Ventout' at ' Chalet Reynard '

On Thursday they arrive in the Alps and the
classic and fearsome climb from Montpellier to the top of ‘ Mont Ventoux ‘ on ‘
Bastille Day ‘ – the final race result could be decided, as too who wears the
Yellow Jersey, in Paris in two weeks time! Watch this space.See above !
Yesterday afternoon & evening we were
back to our ‘ Quiz’ watching, ‘15 to 1,
Countdown, Pointless and Eggheads ‘ followed by ‘Only Connect’ ( The hardest one ! ) with Victoria Coren
Mitchell and University Challenge, Mastermind starts this evening.
After supper we found over on ‘ BBC FOUR ‘
a live programme hosted by Peter Snow ‘ Trainspotting Live ‘ – its as you
guessed about spotting trains! On Monday it was about the ‘Flying Scotsman’s’
route around the country, last night it was the classic ‘ Inter City 125 ‘ including the famous ‘ Flying Banana ‘ train sets
‘ ( One passing through Colwyn Bay
Railway station last night !) and even
the ‘ Holy Grail ‘ of 125s – the ‘ British Racing Green ‘ train set! The ‘Trainspotter’s’
are all passionate & enthusiastic, using pencils & notebooks ( Classic )
– they go into raptures about the ‘ Train Numbers ‘ and of course the ‘ Name
Plates ‘ - Online Digi- Cameras ‘ ( New age ! ) and even
one Grandfather, with his young Grandson, recording all the different sound for
posterity! See the picture below;
They show pictures & video’s sent in ‘live’ to the show, last
night they showed the classic ‘Red Royal
Mail Trains ‘ that are still running around the country, Classic British TV at its best!!
It brought back many happy memories of my
time as a Train Spotter with my Dad, we used to go to all the main stations in
Liverpool, ‘ Lime Street, Exchange & Central ‘ and out and about local down
at the ‘ Aintree Sorting Sidings & Sheds ‘ – I later progressed to ‘Plane
Spotting’ at ‘ Speke Airport ‘ !!
Thoughts for the Day, See above.
