A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND:

FRIDAY 22nd / JULY 2016.

After ‘ Reina’ was dropped off first thing this morning I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping; I called into the English Bookshop’ for the local newspapers and then hit a very busy ‘ Mercadona’, every man & women for their own self! I then went along the promenade to the local market for the fresh flowers and wall plants before stopping at ‘ Super Sol ‘ for some English essentials, I then came back up to the village through the ever growing vine fields and unloaded back at the house. See below the new sign on the Roundabout.

The sun was out first thing this morning, the sky is bright blue and there is just a little pleasant breeze, making it still bearable, by lunchtime it we be very hot and its due to reach the high 30s later, over the weekend its getting hotter and next week is looking like its going to be a  ‘Scorching’  in the mid 40s, watch this space. See the picture below of Calle Iglesia’ looking down to ‘ Santa Ana Church’ and the sun over the beach down in Sabinillas this morning. Our neighbours  'Bourgainvillea's' have just come into flower, see below.

Last night we had a very nice Tapas supper at Bar Castillo before going down to watch the ‘ Tango Concert ‘ in the Cultural Centre ‘ Casa de Torres’ As we were sat outside we met an English family on holiday and had a nice chat with Steve, they are looking to move out here so I gave them a bit of our local knowledge. The concert was very good, it started with a slide presentation, in English, about the history of Tango in Argentina, the lady singer/ guitarist was very good and of course the accordion player was just right to create the atmosphere, the two dancers were excellent and the lady also sang, it was an excellent concert on a balmy evening in sunny Manilva. See the picture above.

It brought back some happy memories from back in 1978 when we went down to London with some friends to see the Musical ‘ Evita’ at the Prince Edward Theatre in the West End, Elaine Page was Evita, David Essex played Che and Joss Ackland was Juan Peron.

For our supper this evening we are having my now famous ‘ Seafood Risotto ‘ – on Saturday its going to be a ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak ‘ – cut French Style ’ and then on Sunday we have yet to decide what we are having, watch this space.

Today’s ‘ Stage 19’of the “ Tour De France “ in the Alps starts in Albertville and goes over four major climbs to finish in Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc after 146 kms; Chris Froome timed his race to perfection on yesterdays ‘Mountain Time Trial’ as he beat Tom Dumoulin and won his second stage in this years Tour, he extended his lead over the field at the same time, over the previous months he had planned his tactics for this stage, he trained over the course on different bikes with different gear selections, in changing weather conditions, at the same time he makes notes and plans the best lines, like a co-driver on a Rally, it then goes onto his small route computer, on the handle bars, which he watch’s as he’s racing, all planned to make the most perfect and fastest time on the day! It worked!!

We are having a nice relaxing weekend before next weeks festivities in the village, keeping cool, lots of cold drinks, all the fans on, watching the sport and then channel hopping.

Thoughts for the Day; see above.
