I was up first this morning to see ‘ Reina’
back with us for the day, she’s here every day this week up to and including Friday:
we then had our breakfast of ‘ Smoked Bacon Butties’ with a mugs of tea to
start the busy week off in the right direction. Today & tomorrow morning
after typing and posting the Blog I’m working on the next two playlists for my radio
show, this week is ready, on Tuesday evening Mario Jnr is here for his English
conversion class, we are planning to go across to ‘La Cañada’ above Marbella on
Wednesday morning for some last minute shopping, then on Thursday afternoon
Brenda has another appointment with the ‘Physiotherapist’ before we both go
down to Sabinillas on Friday morning for the weekly shopping including a trip
to Iceland in Sotogrande for the first time this year!
Its another fine day here in sunny Manilva
and the forecast for the rest of the week is for more of the same and getting
hotter, fingers crossed for next week as the folks arrive next Monday evening.
See the picture below taken from a
different perspective of the side of St Georges Hall with the Museum & Art
Galley on the right, in the background you can see the ‘St John’s Tower/Beacon’
( now the ‘ Radio City Tower ! ) which
nearly 50 years ago I watched being built, it was constructed by a continual concrete
pouring process, I did the ‘ Topping Out’ ceremony when I was the Manager of
the ‘ Stork Hotel’ in Queens Square just opposite! Queen Elizabeth 11 opened it
in 1969.
For our supper this evening we are having a
‘ fry-up’ of the leftovers from last nights ‘ Lamb Cutlets with Boulangere Potatoes
‘ - this week’s menus have yet to be decided, watch this space.
Yesterday afternoon we watched the ‘ Men’s
Final of the French Open Tennis’ from Paris as Novak Djokovic beat Andy Murray
and so became the holder of all of the four ‘Grand Slams’ titles at the same
time. After supper we watched the final episode of ‘ Wallander’ played by Kenneth
Branagh, it was very moving as the first signs of Alzheimer’s Disease took over
the life of the Swedish detective as he was investigating a Cold War story of
murder & treachery within his own family, it was a very powerful and stupendous
ending as he gave in his badge before retiring, not before uncovering the truth
and the murderer. This week its also the last episode of ‘ Peaky Blinders’ which
is promising to be a very exciting climax.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
