A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 7th / JUNE 2016.

We were both up early this morning as there was the sound of the delivery man sliding down the goods to the local shop on pallets, earlier the ‘Council Water Wagon’ had been around washing down the street, ‘Reina’ was dropped off by Lee and then ‘ Chispa’ came calling in for her breakfast with us, ‘ Scruffy ’ is now joining us on Wednesday afternoon into the late evening, Brenda grabbed a quick shower and I’m doing the same later as we are out first thing in the morning shopping at ‘ La CaƱada’ above Marbella.

Its another very hot & sunny day here in sunny Manilva, the sky is blue and there is no breeze, in parts of the  ‘Andalucia Region’ its due to reach 38 degs later ( Sevilla, Cordoba etc ) – we are on the 27/28 degs mark as there is an off coast sea breeze through the ‘Strait of Gibraltar’ – during the night its now on 18/19 degs!  See the aerial picture of ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ below with Sabinillas along to the right.

After breakfast I shot along to the Chemists in Calle Mar for my prescription tablets and then down to the Butchers for some stock, Escalope of Chicken Breast, Chicken Wings and two sorts of homemade Burgers ( Pork & Chicken!) on the way back I went up and around to the Stationery shop for writing pads etc – it was still closed?! Brenda then went along to the ‘Dress’ shop in Calle Inglesia and came back with a nice top and a pair of Black dress trousers before she ‘ hits’ Marbella on Wednesday morning!

Yesterday afternoon our friend and old customer Nigel Roberts from Llandudno  (Retired Newsagent!) sent us an article from the ' Daily Post' about ' The Royal Goat Hotel ' in Beddgelert in the heart of Snowdonia, We meet him there over 43 years ago when we were the Managers, its just been sold to some people in the village that already own another hotel in the main street, see the picture below;

I’m on a ‘ Mission’ at the moment to get all the trees along Calle Mar cut & trimmed ‘ Pollard Style’ – like the old Council used to do – I’ve asked all the local new ‘Councillors’ over the past six months with no luck, I’m making an appointment with the Mayor to put in a formal request for action ASAP, down in ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ the trees are kept in ‘style’ all the time and the surrounds around the bottom of them are stoned and painted in White, making them and the village look very smart!

To add insult to injury as I’m typing this two Council workmen from the ‘Gardens Department’ are cutting & trimming the two trees in front of the Town Hall but none of the others, I stormed into the Town hall to the Mayors office, he was not there, and had a little ‘ Rant’ I also spoke to two local Councillors while I was there as the responsible Councillor is off sick!  A formal letter of complaint is going in ASAP!  See the pictures below. Watch this space !!

For our supper this evening we are having the ‘Escalope’s of Chicken Breast’ pan-fried in foaming Lime Butter with a dash of ‘ Balsamic Vinegar’ a selection vegetables and the rest of the ‘ Boulanger Potatoes’ The rest of the week is still TBC as we are out & about, then over the weekend its going to be our usual Friday/Saturday specials.

After typing & posting the Blog I’m working on another play list for my Radio show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ so that I’m ahead for when the folks arrive next Monday, Mano is taking me across on Monday morning to collect the hire car from Marbella as we are collecting them from the Airport in Gibraltar on Monday evening.

This evening before supper Mario Jnr is calling in for his English conversation practise as its his exam on Friday, his writing is very good and he’s now speaking a lot clearer, watch this space. Over the past week we have been watching on BBC 2 “ Great Continental Rail Journeys “  with Michael Portillo, he’s been in Russia, Poland, Southern Italy & Portugal, last night it was in Israel and this evening he’s back in France, all very interesting with some classic train journeys as well as all the places he visits.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
