Just a short lie in this morning after a
very hot & sticky night with the temperature reaching 28 degs! Yesterday afternoon
it broke the 40 degs barrier for the first time this year!! The rest of the
week its hovering on the 35 degs mark, hot even for this time of the year.
We went over to ‘ La Linea De La Concepcion’
in the early evening and Brenda just
about managed to walk across the border to the new Airport in Gibraltar; the
folks arrived on time and then they all walked out with their bags where I was waiting
in the car by the entrance to the border crossing to meet them, see the
pictures below of the ‘ Rock of Gibraltar ‘ & the ‘ Nissan e-NV 200 ‘
people carrier, pictures of the folks to follow later today!
After signing in at the ‘ Manilva Green
Aparthotel’ & dropping off their
bags at the apartment we came back up to the village and had a very nice late ‘
Tapas’ supper sat outside in the cooler night air along with all the locals, I
then dropped them off at the apartment for well deserved good nights sleep (
hot?! )
I have just been along to the butchers for
some ‘ Escalope’s of Chicken Breasts’ for this evening supper as the folks are
joining us, to start we are having a nice chilled bottle of ’Cava’ ( with a
dash of Cassis!) to welcome them to sunny Manilva, my famous ‘Russian Salad’ as
a nibble with small crispy biscuits as a ‘Tapas’ For the main course its
Grilled Escalope’s of Chicken Breast’ finished with Lemon Butter with a dash of
‘Balsamic Vinegar’ garnished with fresh local Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms,
whole Green Beans, a small Baked Potato and a few thick-cut sliced sautéed Potatoes
on the side! For the dessert its local Black Cherries with chilled ‘Ogen’ Melon
slices, the wine is ‘ Torres Vina Sol '
At lunchtime I’m picking up the folks and
coming back into the village for a very light Tapas lunch ( Epic ! ) at ‘Bar Castillo’ followed
by an Ice Cream and Pots of Tea for
Norah & Jenny at the new parlour ‘ Fresquito’! See the pictures below;
Tomorrow we are ‘ hitting’ Estepona &
San Pedro de Alcantara’ – watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
