Just a little lie in this morning as we had
to get ready this evenings supper, after a quick cup of tea and a piece of
toast I shot out to the ‘ Manilva Green Aparthotel’ and dropped Jack & Lyn, Norah & Jenny
down in Sabinillas; meanwhile back at the house the ‘ Second Chef’ ( Brenda ) had
started on the preparations for this evenings ‘ Gourmet Feast’!
To start we are having a small selection of
light ‘ Tapas’ For the main course its ‘ Roast Leg of New Zealand South Island
Lamb’ studded with Garlic Cloves & Tarragon,
a large dish of my famous ‘ Boulangere Potatoes’ & ‘Turned’ Goose Fat Roast
Potatoes and of course my ‘ Finger Licking Pan Gravy’ - the ‘ Vegetable Chef’ (
Brenda ) is offering ‘ Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets’ in a three Cheese
Sauce, Puree of Carrots & Turnips and Garden Peas with Sugar Snap Peas;
then the ‘ Pastry Chef’ ( Brenda again !) has for the dessert Apple Flan &
Vanilla Slices with Black Cherries Ice Cream! ‘ Bucks Fizz ‘ ( Cava ) to start,
Torres Vina Sol & Rioja, to be chosen later from the wine cellar, for the
main course.
Yesterday evening we decided to go ‘ out
for dinner ‘ for a change; we went to one of the oldest restaurants in the area
‘ Venta La Choza ‘ on the road going out of Sabinillas towards Estepona, we
have used it many times over the years and when we first arrived down here on
the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ we were regular customers of its sister restaurant by the
site with the ‘Winnebago’ ( it closed a few years ago ) The last time we were
at ‘Venta la Choza’ was with Tim & Thea with some of their friends a few
years ago, we had another very nice meal, sat on the same table, the service
was a bit slow as one of the regular waiters was off sick, they looked after us
very well as the place soon filled up with ‘ex-pats’ The menu has never changed
and the prices are still very good value.
Brenda had a ‘ Grilled Sole’ that was
cooked perfectly, Lyn has a very nice ‘Darne of Grilled Salmon’ while Norah chose
the ‘Grilled Fillets of Cod’ – Jenny had a ‘Grilled Fillet Steak’ with ‘ Frits’
and Jack & I had two perfectly ‘Char Grilled T-Bone Steaks’!! ( not often
seen in Spain ! ) They were very good
and very succulent & tasty, we shall return soon!!
I’m collecting the folks from their apartment
this evening and then later will drop them back down.
Tomorrow we are going out for lunch to our favourite restaurant just past Estepona “ Kokomo “ We also called into ‘Duquesa Marina’ last night and I booked at table at ‘ La Travita’ for Saturday evening, on the roof terrace, as well, I booked a window table for Brenda’s Birthday next Wednesday when we are going to another one of our favourite restaurants which we went to for my birthday with Tim & Thea “ Restaurante Marques “ Watch this space.
