We were up
bright and breezy this morning and after a quick breakfast we shot out down to
Sabinillas for our shopping; we picked up the papers from the bookshop, posted
a birthday card (?!) and picked up some late Xmas cards, it was then a large
shop at ‘Mercadona’ including from the fish counter a very nice “Rodaballo –
Turbot” which had just come in, it’s a traditional Xmas fish! See the picture
below with the fresh ‘Langoustines’ and also tonight’s steak – a Spanish style “T-Bone”
(no Fillet!) for me and an “Entrecote” for Brenda!!
The sun was
blinding as we went down through the vine fields, its already warm and the
forecast for next week is starting to look good so fingers crossed for the Xmas
holiday, here in Spain the big celebration is on Xmas Eve “ Notchebuena ” when
the tradition is for all the family to get together for a big party, Christmas
Day is a normal day as is Boxing Day, their major celebration is on the 6th
January for the ‘Three Kings’ – “ Dia de los Reyes Magos”
So this
evening we are having the steaks for our supper with finely sliced Green Beans,
sautéed Baby Mushrooms and twice-cooked Frits, fried Garlic Buds for Brenda and
mine topped with a Campo fried Egg! Tomorrow evening we have cancelled our planned
‘Roast Chicken’ and are having the whole ‘Turbot’ baked in the oven with lots
herbs and Lemon Juice – Fresh Asparagus Spears and Minted Baby New Potatoes.
On the
sports front this weekend here in ‘La Liga’ Barcelona welcome Cordoba, Real
Madrid are in Morocco for the final of the ‘Club World Cup’ when they play this
evening the South American champions ‘San Lorenzo’ Over in the ‘Premiere
League’ Manchester City welcome Crystal Palace and Everton travel down to Southampton,
tomorrow Liverpool welcome Arsenal.
Tomorrow
evening ‘Scruffy’ is due for his Xmas Holiday/Break for a week then on Tuesday
‘Reina’ is with us for a sleep over and back again on Xmas Day for her lunch!
She is also with us for New Years Eve when we could also have ‘Charlie’ the
parrot here – TBC!! At the moment ‘Chispa’ who came running up the street as we
returned from our shopping expedition is playing at my feet as I’m typing the
Blog.
After our
supper this evening we will catch up with all the news, sport and weather
details before finding something to watch, last night we had no luck, the only
good film on was in French with no translation “ 22 Bullets” with Jean Reno
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
