A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 4th/ JUNE 2014.

We were up bright and breezy this morning and after breakfast we walked down to the post office to post a birthday card, watch out it could be you! Then I collected the car from the underground car park and we shot down to the hairdressers in Sabinillas for Brenda’s quick cut & blow; she is walking a bit further each day but still taking it slow and easy.

The weather today is very hot and sunny with just a little occasional breeze which helps make it rather nice with more of the same to come over the next few days and over the weekend - getting hotter each day!

While Brenda was in the hairdressers I went and had a ‘Sausage Butty’ and a mug of tea in the restaurant opposite and picked up an English paper to read, the ‘Daily Mail – sorry Josie! We then went along to the charity shop and I found a new shirt for tomorrow at half-price 1-50 euro and Brenda found a new top with a built in necklace for 2-00 euros! I also picked up a hardback “James Patterson” for 1-00 euro!! It was half-price day in the shop." He, He ! " to 'Saint George' ( The charity shop )

We then stopped at ‘Super Sol’ for some English essentials before coming back up to village and called into the chemists for my prescriptions, as we are pensioners we are only charged 8% of the cost so all my tablets are only 4-40 euros; finally we stopped at the butchers for tonight’s supper ‘Pan-Fried Fillets of Chicken Breast’ cooked in foaming Lime Butter with Garden Peas and dry-sautéed thick-cut slices of Baked Potato.

Brenda has nearly finished her ‘Lee Childs’ book, I finished mine yesterday so we will exchange them for some more on Friday at the English bookshop when we are down in Sabinillas; we going back to the blinds/shutters shop this time saying that we have been recommended by one of the biggest clients, the solicitors that we use, and asking for larger discount as well as some personal attention and a visit to the house! Watch this space.

The Government have just announced that the Coronation of ‘Prince Felipe’ as “King Felipe V1” will be on the 18th of June and the ceremony will take place inside the Congress (The Lower Parliament of Spain) – I’ am sure that more elaborate proceeding will take place at a later date as the Spanish are very good as military ceremonies/parades etc. Only yesterday they were both seen together in public for the first time at a military ceremony in ‘San Lorenzo de El Escorial’reviewing the Armed Forces.

‘El Escorial’ is the historic residence of the ‘Kings of Spain’ in the town of the same name and is situated 45kms northwest of the capital Madrid in the hills; it’s a monastery/ royal palace/museum and school – we visited the spectacular palace when we stopped in Madrid at the start of out travels to see out dear fried Rafael – see the picture above.

Later this evening after our supper we will watch the news and sports round ups before settling down to watch something after channel hopping.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
