MONDAY 16th/JUNE
2014.
After a
good nights sleep despite the heat we have stated another week down here on the
‘Costa Del
Sol ’ in
sunny Manilva! Before we go down stairs for our breakfast I turn on the PCs
ready for later, I noticed that Jack & Lyn had just come on-line on the
‘Skype’ video so I hit the connect button – result – they have not been able to
make contact as they traveled across from Cairns to Darwin.
They have
settled down in Darwin for a little while and so Lyn’s daughter Annette and her partner Peter
have flown up from Melbourne to see them (5 hours!) They have
hired a camper van and are traveling around with them for a week; in fact it
was Annette that answered the Skype first, a nice surprise! They are both very
well and are enjoying their travels/adventure around Australia , so far they have done 7,300kms so
they only have another 8,000kms to go – or there about!
Next they
will go back down to Katherine to join ‘Route 1’ then head off towards Broome
on the west coast via Kununorra,Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing passing the
area of ‘Kimberley’ on the way - all in
‘Western Australia’ Take care and safe traveling – keep to the left and watch
out for the Kangaroos!
After
breakfast I shot around to the butchers for tonight’s supper ‘ Pork Chops’ cut
English style which I’ am baking in the oven, we are having them with some
fresh Alselgas with Cabbage, crushed Carrots with Baby Turnips, dry sautéed
thick-cut slices of Baked Potato with a little of my famous Tomato salsa on the
side. Tomorrow night we are having ‘Calves Liver’ with all the trimmings, then
on Wednesday it’s going to be Omelets as on Thursday we are planning to have Gillian
& Josie ( The Queen of Skelton!) - who we are picking up on Thursday
morning in the ‘Red Limousine’ around for a light supper - so it will be a nice
surprise for her, that’s if she doesn’t read the Blog before then!!
We are
having ‘Escalop’s of Chicken Breast’ pan-fried in foaming Lemon Butter with
Savory Basmati Rice with a large sauceboat of a rich and creamy Mushroom sauce!
Now I’ve gone and given the game away – again!
Over the
weekend on the sports front lots of exciting football at the ‘World Cup’ At the
‘Motor GP of Cataluna’ Marc Marquez won after a very exciting last lap to make
it 7 out of 7 wins in a row! On the final stage of the ‘Criterium du Dauphine’
both Chris Froome and Alberto Contador who had both led in the race struggled
on the last day as Andrew Talansky won! The 101st ‘Tour de France’
starts on the 5th July with two stages in Yorkshire this year – sadly the ‘Queen of
Skelton’ won’t be there as she is on her official summer holidays at her
Palace/residence down here in sunny Manilva!!
Over in
London at ’Queen’s’Grigor Dimitrov,Sharapova’s boyfriend beat the Spanish
‘Heart -Throb’ – Gillian’s words not mine,Feliciano Lopez in the dramatic
final; meanwhile in the international ‘Rugby Union’ both Ireland and Scotland
won. At ‘Le Mans’ ‘Audi’ secured their 12th victory in 14 year with
a one-two finsh.Finaly on the ‘Isle of Man’ in the blue riband ‘Senior TT’
Michael Dunlop became the first rider to win four TTs in consecutive years!
That’s enough sport for now!!
Scruffy is
with us on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons this week. We have an appointment
at the surgery for our routine check-ups on Wednesday morning.
So we are
back to normal with the reading in the afternoons also and after supper tonight
we will settle down to find something to watch on the TV.
Next on the
agenda for this week is Brenda’s birthday on Sunday when I’ am planning to go
out for lunch with some friends?! - watch this space – TBC.
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
