FRIDAY 13th/
JUNE 2014 !!.
We were up
bright and early this morning, the new alarm clock on the mobile worked! Watch
out next week for the new numbers for both of our new Mobiles; after breakfast
we shot down to the local market for some fresh flowers and I also called into
the surgery to make an appointment with our doctor next week to update her on
both of us and give us the one over!
It was then
time to shoot down to Sabinillas to go the supermarkets, first we called into
the English bookshop for the papers; next it was ‘Mercadona’ for the main shop
and then ‘Super Sol’ for the English goods – this is where Friday 13th struck!
– Brenda had a nasty fall on some water, no signs out and crashed to the floor
when her knee gave out and at the same time she badly bruised her arm and wrist
on a shelf!! She was obviously in pain and shock as I called for some
assistance to lift her up, with the help of an ambulance man who was shopping
we got her to her feet, I was very angry and called for the manager immediately!
He came
along and they then administered medical attention on her, sat her down and
gave her a bottle of water, as we had no phones I was not able to take any
pictures so I insisted that he took some of her arm and the floor before giving
them our details and signing the paper marked ‘No Signs’ !! As usual Brenda
wants no fuss and is back to her old self – thank God !!
On
returning to the house we un-packed and I shot around to the butchers for our
Saturday night ‘Steak a la Plancha’ and some ‘Calves Liver’ for another day;
this evening we are having ‘Fillets of Hake a la Meuniere’ with ‘Saffron’ New
Potatoes and Garden Peas with a little of my homemade ‘Tartar sauce’ on the
side.
‘Chispa’
came running up the street as we returned and is now playing around the house,
‘Scruffy is due for his sleep-over at lunchtime so we will go for our walk
later if Brenda is not to stiff! Today it’s very hot and sunny with more to
come over the weekend. As you can see in the picture above Scruffy has arrived,
Just as he was being dropped off by Rose a couple came up the street from 'Bodegon Andaluz' - we said 'Ola' and they said 'Hello!' - it turns out that Nigel Morgan, a true 'Welshman' from'Merthyr Tydfil' and his 'Canadaian' wife Katarina are living by Casares Golf Club; as we got talking Mano and Anna came down the street and they knew one another as they had stayed at the Manilva Green Hotel and Mano had looked after them - so we ended up having a couple of nice cool drinks in the house and a good chat,it was very nice to meet them and we hope to see them again!

It will
then be time to settle down and watch some ‘World Cup’ football from Brazil,
tonight it’s the ‘Match of the Day’ when Spain, the holders meet Holland who
they last played four years ago in the final when they beat them 1-0!
Oh dear ! The Netherlands have just thrashed Spain 1-5 - the whole village is in shock !!

Last nights
film was “ Along Came the Spider” from 2001- from the ‘James Patterson’ book of
the same name with Morgan Freeman again playing Dr Alex Cross; sadly they had
changed the plot/story and the endings so if you have read the book don’t watch
it – if you haven’t its OK! Monica Wincott,Michael Potter and Mika Bloom are
also excellent as the tale unfolds.
PS; The
‘Euro’ is at its highest in over 2 years this morning so fingers crossed for
next weeks pension transfers!
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
