WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 5th/ MARCH 2014.

It’s another beautiful day down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ with clear blue skies and warm sunshine with just a little breeze; the forecast is also for more of the same over the weekend into next week. After breakfast of ‘Weetabix’ (New Regime!) with freshly squeezed orange Juice, tea and toast I got tonight’s supper on the move; a very large pan of ‘Beef, Vegetable and Potato Stew’ – “Scouse”

I use diced Onions, Carrots, Celery, Leeks, Turnips, Green Beans, Mushrooms and of course lots of diced Potato! All sweated off after seasoning and the secret ingredients added, Tomato Frito and a good strong Beef and Vegetable stock are then added before adding the browned off cubes of Beef; it then is left to cook out slowly and re-seasoned and I correct the consistency if needed. We are having Cabbage with Acelgas and lots of fresh local Beetroot with the ‘Scouse’

At the request of the vegetable/prep chef I have transferred some of the Beef & Vegetables with the sauce to another pan so as I can make for tomorrow nights supper ‘Beef &Vegetable Casserole with Dumplings!’ I’ve not made Dumplings for nearly 50 years so this could get rather interesting – watch this space!

Brenda took the dog around to the vets for a shampoo and cut as this was all happening; I then had a shave and shower before we went and picked her up as you can see in the picture above; we then called into the new bar “ Bodegon Andaluz” that was re-opening today down in our street below us, the owner has smartened it up and is living above in the apartment. It’s been closed for a couple of year’s since the last people had it, as you can see in the pictures above it’s a very small but nice local Bar, we were his first customers at lunchtime today and had a complementary drink on the house!

Yesterday afternoon I booked two tickets on a coach trip arranged by the councils ‘Foreign Residents Department’ at the end of the month that is going to Cadiz, which we love and know very well, they have arranged a visit to the Cathedral which was closed the last time that we were there for repairs and then they are coming back down the coast past ‘San Luca De Barrameda’ to the fishing port of ‘Puerto De Santa Maria’ for lunch and a guided tour which has been on our list of the one of the places that we must visit!

Over in Australia the folks have been visiting the ‘Great Barrier Reef’ today which is just off ‘Cairns’ where they are staying – we are still waiting for some pictures to be posted in Facebook!

PS; They are just been posted so I will put some on the Blog later;

Later this evening after supper we will catch up with news,weather and sports updates before finding a film to watch.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
