THURSDAY 13th/ MARCH 2014.
This
morning is the finest day so far this year, the breeze has dropped, the sky is
blue and the sun is out! What a gorgeous day in sunny Manilva!! After breakfast
I walked to the chemists to pick up some prescriptions and then carried on down
to the butcher’s for something for tonight’s supper and check on the Lamb for
Sunday’s roast.
So this
evening we are having a ‘house special’ – ‘Brochette of Marinated Pork’- see the picture above - served
on a bed of Basmati Rice with my Tomato salsa on the side, the Lamb is
marinating in the butchers! I have wooden skewers and make them up with the
diced Marinated Pork, Red & Green Peppers, Button Mushrooms and Onions slices,
slowly cooked on the griddle with Diamond cut Green Beans from the vegetable
chef.
Just before we went out a couple called Adrian and Rose who live in the village and work in Gibraltar in the Gaming Industry - they have a lovely dog called 'Scruffy!' and have been put in touch with us by Brian & Jan( Charlie's) owners; they are working on different shifts and they have asked us if we would look after 'Scruffy' at certain times including overnight - so we are going to hear from them next week!

At
lunchtime we are going for a walk with dog down to the football ground to take
some pictures of the new “Petanca – Petanque – Boules” pitch that was opened
yesterday – see the pictures above of the pitch, some climbing classes in the Sports Hall, the blue sky above the new house that has just been built and finally the 'Rotisserie' in action!
The game that originated in France back in 1907 in the ‘Provence’ region is very popular here as well – the metal balls are hollow and the small ‘Cochonnet – Piglet’ is wooden – both feet must be on the ground as you toss the balls – hence the name ‘Petanca – Feet Anchored!’

This
afternoon I will try and watch the racing from the ‘Cheltenham Festival’ and tomorrow its ‘Gold Cup’ day – the ‘Channel 4’ coverage is the best and the racing yesterday
was rather special especially the “ Queen Mother Champion Chase” when ‘Sire De
Grugy’ ridden by Jamie Moore won, the owner is from Runcorn in Cheshire, was
also celebrating his 50th birthday! Watching the racing live with the Channel 4 coverage!!
Last night
after watching the football in the office upstairs after supper we channel
hopped and watched the ends of a couple of films!
Thought for
the Day; See above.
